Does anyone know if the check engine light will turn on if the cat is removed from a mp3? And has anyone done this while keeping the stock racinghart exhaust ? Thanx! (rockon)

it will throw a CEL eventually if it before the last o2 bung. you need a mil eliminator.

mil??????????

where could i find one of those ? do you think it would sound good with the stock racing hart muffler?

i dont know what the stock muffler sounds like on a mp3, but if you look in the how-to section you can make your own for like 2 bucks.

i have no second cat, no worries about check engine light......i would assume you are removing the second one, because if you removed the first it might be a hassel.....but yea, i have not cats or resonators, i love it, it sounds sexy, but i never did it with the stock racing beat exhaust

I am running a 2.5" turboback on my MP3 with no resonators or cats. I left the stock axle back on to keep the noise down. The car is actually quieter than my MP3 was when I had an intake on there...which is real suprising. But when I get on it, it sounds mean as hell. So as long as you keep the Racing Beat muffler you shouldn't have to worry about it.

those cats are as good as gone

you just game me that extra kick to kick those cats out, how much do you think that lil job would cost to get the 2nd cat out ?

ohh and how did you go about getting the 1st one out with out a check engine light ?

you can get a mil eliminator for $21 at apex motorsports...they have a web page...but i can't remember what it is. both of my cars are cat-less

I have a check engine light from my P5 ECU so I never worried about the exhaust causing one. But I just had a muffler shop do some 2.5" pipe all the way from the downpipe to the muffler. Only $175 and that was with flex pipe.

for 4 bucks you could get some spark plug anti-foulers and get the same results as a mil eliminator. And NO cutting of the wiring!

yeah, I've done this for a buddy's Blazer... 2 anti-foulers, though you have to drill the first one out so the O2 sensor doesn't hit it, and it does get some flow.

whats an anti fouler?

nevermind
