Cat or no cat?

I know that some newer cars can actually lose hp if you don't install a cat. But I live in FL with no emission laws, so if there is no reason to buy an exhaust with a cat it would definitely save me alot of money

Cat. Just because there is no law requiring it doesn't mean you shouldn't have one. I have the MAM highflow catted midpipe and it works quite well, I definitely felt a difference from stock but it didn't get crazy loud.

err, you have a turbo. backpressure is not really required at all. when i ran my g28t i had 2.5 strait back and it ran so much better without the cat than before i welded a strait pipe in

I just put in a MAM catless, lil more exhaust tone, and definitely improved response. a high flow cat won't hurt you though, and it is nicer for our grandchildren. lol

No Cat for me...although if I could get my hands on a MAM catted 3" exhaust I wouldnt say no

When I briefly ran a VTA with MAF in the stock location, I would give a quick rev between shifts or coasting in neutral, and ignite all the fuel that was just dumped due to the VTA. Fireballs, yay.

you sonnavbitch... now I'm gonna have to go VTA on the SSQV again...

I honestly didn't notice any difference on the stalling issue. I do it every once in a while either way.

Hahhah, it was fun for a few days. You run a recirced HKS, w/ MAF in stock location ? I'm considering going back to a recirc set-up, not sure why though...haha. I backfire on a occasion now as well.

yeah, I'm actually running the stock intake pipe with a cone filter on it... I need to dump it badly. I have an AEM Dryflow ready to go on the section of my turbolife coldpipe that I hacked off (other half is part of my custom cold pipe), so its got a recirc fitting and everything. I just need the couplers and a breather filter for the cam cover breather port.
I'm holding off while I decide if I wanna relocate the maf or not. I'm torn.

Until I get the money for a SSAFC I'm just going with an Injen intake, AWR motor mounts and probably Megan Racing exhaust with the HKS carbon-ti muffler

How about not buying all the stuff you just listed, and instead buying JUST the SS_AFC right now ?...It'd be a better choice, IMO. Either way, good luck. EDIT: SSAFC AND a catless mid-pipe would make some good gains....

SS-AFC new - $400

DIY Intake - $75 ( 3" Alum S-pipe, a few various silicone coupler / reducers, decent filter)

Catless Mid-pipe OR electric cut-out - $ 250-300...probably even less...?

AWR mounts - $185

The point is, focus on what matters, get creative, and you can have everything...

if anything, cut it out yourself and put in a strait pipe with clamps, costs MAYBE $15 or so. used to do that with lotsa cars for fun and powa
