didn't you have floor mats?
Floor mats don't cover up the area that everyone is having wear problems with.

I have floor mats but they do not cover the area right below the gas pedal.

AT LAST!... A complaint I can share in! Our carpet is also showing wear after only 5300 miles. Ahhh... I belong now. (group)
I'll have to look at the carpet...I did notice the black piano-like finish on the steering wheel is not shiney at all anymore...just black plastic looking now.![]()
That is very strange... the only way it would dull that easily is if you were constantly buffing it with an abrasive cloth (ie: not 100% american cotton, or 100% korean microfibre)
Haven't buffed it at all actually. I haven't wanted to touch it until I can figure out what I can buff it with to bring the gloss back that won't scratch it.
No, it's still cheap.(braindeadI guess now people can stop talking s*** about the protege's interior being "cheap"... sure the protege's interior is simplistic which is typical of a 90's japanese car and looks "cheap" because it doesn't look substantial or stylish like the new mazdas but at least the materials are good! the carpet in the protege is easily twice as thick as the 3's!
Was at dealer yesterday. They are replacing the carpet(on order). Tech agreed it shouldnt wear that quickly, and agreed the carpet they are using in the CX7 is lower in quality. Interesting thing was I had an 06' Mazda 6 as a loaner and the carpet is much thicker.
Only thing that sucks is they have to take out quite a bit of the interior to replace it including the seats.
