Anyone in the Cali area?

apex this one is for you. this people are located in Gardena, Ca i think is somewhere close to LA. getting to the point they are willling to make a CF hood if someone takes the car to them. I spoke to MIN and he seems to be the owner of the shop, he is the one that told me that in order to make it he needs a car hood. Please help on this issue, we seem to have companies to make AfterMarketParts but not car to lend or use for this projects. Thanks, this also goes for those p5 owners out there. this one will fit too. ES-Sports

if you go under mazda general under General you will see a thread that says got carbon fiber check it out......people dont look hard do they......

contact mitch buckner at protege5online.com .. his e-mail address is sqrbean@midsouth.rr.com ..

he has an order already in progress through fiber images for hoods for your MP3's/P5's (any 2001+ Protege)..

$620 shipped for standard carbon fiber
$100 more if you want a colored weave like red..

give him an email he will hook you up, i'm just acting as a messenger since he doesnt seem to be responding here and none of you guys have seen the group buy..

the wait time should be a week or two on those hoods but they will be the first available and the best quality.

Hope This HELPS!!!

This is the one from APC I think It kicks A$$.

I don't call $620 a hookup on a carbon fiber hood. I'm a little interested in seeing that APC hood in person. Either way you can't go wrong, but I'd be more willing to pay $504 for the APC and have 100% guarantee on it, than pay $620 for the Fiber Images hood which isn't guaranteed. The APC design looks better than your conventional stock CF Hood.

geez, yeah the APC hood is nice if it is indeed that vented style which MazdaMP3Man posted in the other thread, but IF , and I say if.. it turns out they are only making a stock styled hood then fiber images has the advantage of superior durability.. have you seen their videos of driving a car over the hood or the guy standing on the hood and not deforming it one bit?.. you DONT want a hood with fiberglass backing though if you get in a crash or an incident with a pole :(

check out their video somewhere on the site..

$620 shipped aint bad.. shipping would probably run about $100 alone due to a hood's rediculous size requiring truck shipping.. evening out the pricing..

APC in my opinion, and only in my opinion.. makes too many products for too many things, I'd have to see their CF hood in person to make a real statement about them but I would venture to guess they're "grade-b" hoods based on how their other products are..

good luck whatever you do :D

I've seen of APC Carbon Fiber hoods on three different makes of cars and all 3 had top quality. Not a single wave, no browning, very glossy gel coat on 1 of three. I saw them on a Focus, 2001 Civic, and on a Cavalier. I don't like much of APC's products, but I must admit that they got their act together when it came down to Carbon Fiber Hoods. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a Fiber Glass reinforced hood. As you will see in my Clubphoto page in my sig. Subywan "Mike" had a fron end collision with his hood on, which is fiber glass backed. In most cases, the hood latch will sanp off before any major damage can be done to the hood. $620 isn't bad, but it is on the higher end of the price range for CF hoods.

Check out FIBER IMAGES hood. Top notch quality. Over in Photo Gallery RODSCALIP5 has got one. Check it out.
