agh....... i c.. to me somego is good but i like show.....

I've been looking into a CF hood also.
there are several companies around LA that make it so you could probably save on shipping...

IONs hood is from canada, very nice quality but I can't pay that much for the shipping... :( but their colour weave is sweet!

APC has one but I can't find their product online anymore.
VIS has one but I dunno where they are

OE tuning has one.
Fiber Images have another one. (contact AutoR&D)
DGM also has one (they are in sandiego i think)
I'm considering these because I can actually go and pick up from them and save 100 on shipping.

price wise I think you do get what you pay for...

and uplifting maybe an issue especially if you are in CA because of the crazy speed ppl go on the freeways at......
so try to ask around for ppl that have it and if they need pins or not....
some guy uses DGM and he uses no pins, i've seen it in person,
some other guy uses VIS and no pins either...

APC- hell no
Wings West- To damn much
Fiber IMage- Good Chance
VIS- Have not seen it
DGM- Too much
there is no way i am payin 6-80 for a hood

well then best deal for you is:
APC... ppl got it for about 550 shipped
VIS... this guy called mike, has a red P5 with total MSP conversion with turbo too, has this hood... seen it in person, real nice, rolled edges....
try OE tuning... its 500 for the hood but I don't think anyone on the board has it yet.

hey if you only want looks slap some CF sticky stuff on it... this guys KYPR5 i think has got some CF material that he just ordered and it does just that...

well i got my out of pure joy of being the only one on my tiny island to have one on a p5. you know come to think of it i haven't posted a pic of it yet. guess i better step on it.

I have the Fiber Iamges one. Couldn't be happier! Fit like a champ! Gotta through a big shout to to Auto RnD for the hookup!

Although from the looks of it, ION seems to make a quality product. I like the yellow.

Question for ION though. How close does the yellow CF hood match the Mazda yellow?

Everything else seems to be cheap(ly made, not $ wise).

Hey ION, do you have any CF hoods just like the one in the picture you posted but with with a hood type of scop, kind of like the Vis Evo hood. I think thats the right one.

Is there any advantage to getting the EVO style hood? I read that it actually does help relieve some heat soak since the engine bay will let out heat through those large vents. My only concern would be about weather getting into the engine bay. I live in rainy Hilo Hawaii, so that's on my mind before I purchase a vented CF hood.

Locomoko - The idea of having a reverse vent is to allow air to pass through the radiator and up through the hood. If the hood is not constructed properly, there maybe too much force at speed which will cause the hood to release at high speeds.

Generally though, if you're upgrading your I/C & radiator, having an OE style vs. the reverse vent will have very little difference in terms of under hood temps.
