Also, since we're on the topic of strut braces, I was looking at the complete trunk brace by GT Spec (?) and was wondering if it was worth it over a strut bar. You're likely to get some performance increase but is it noticeable? Is there ANY reason to get the strut bar over the trunk brace?

White for steel and silver for aluminum were the only colors they are made in. There's nothing to stop you from powder coating it a different color after purchase.
The trunk brace set from GT Spec will give you more stiffness, but it is also out of production. Good luck finding a full set for less than $400.
