Car Show Advice:Help

okay well, this isnt about tips to make your car nice, but in general, what judges score on...

do the more "flashy" and off the hook rides get more points?

or do the "stealth" cars with a lot JDM parts get more points?

Well, Ill field this question. :D

Basically, depends on what type of catagory your shooting for. Typically, you would have a 2/4 door mild/wild classes. Also, you would have your specialty awards, JDM, Domestic, SUV, ICE, Sound presentation, your MFR specific classes, also a 5 door class. (p5, wrx wagon, ect ect)

If your shooting for the JDM class, you dont want the big bling bling. You want TRUE JDM parts, and jdm style. IF your shooting for a mild class, you want bling, but no full interior done, no molded body kit. Those would bump you into a wild class.

One thing I stress to competitors, is build a display. It does not have to be a big ass, full light display, but something that fits the style of car.

go here to read an article on how to win an NCCA event. http://www.nationalcustomcarassociation.com/html/media_coverage/B_Scene_Summer2003.pdf

Granted, the info I jsut gave you is based on an NCCA sanctioned event. I cannot speak for other events, as polotics can play a part in that. :D

thank you for the advice. just curious after reading pirana's thread about cf tails. i was thinking about comparing it to jdm tails (whats worth more point wise) thanks again - chris

Judges want to see that you have a little bit of everything. The 2 shows I've been @ I've had a little been done to every part of the car. The first time I had all DG sh*t, everything they had made, including the rollcage inside. Unfortunately I didn't get judged. The second time I just had half the exterior done, Racing seats etc. I took 3rd in the Mazda class. Also it all depends who your going up against. If theres only 5 Mazdas and 3 are mild, they might judge those 3 mild for best Mazda and put the other 2 in another category. My honest opinion is that judges want you to pay your dues, if they can remember you from previous shows those ar additional points. It helps them see the progress of your ride and that your commited.

oh yah, i know the jdm cars have the more "clean" look, but do they get more points if they have decals/designs like the signal auto design or something? thanks - chris

i learened something at shows to.. it doesnt matter how dope your car is.. if the other team there is worried they are going to lose and they have 9 other cars in the show.. and they threaten to go home because they dont want to get beat by a 20 year old kid with a bad ass car. their POS car will win.. then the judges give your team what im calling a hey.. we know we screwed u so u get this trophy for the car with the big dent in the door.
yeah* im not feelin the car show love.. so next time i come.. be prepared. -=) im going to get some get back for what happened at hin.

I got Signal Aqua graphics on my ride. I never went to a show with them on, but next year I will and see how it goes. I personally think they look good on my ride, but as long as you got the right graphics you should get alot of points. They count towards exterior points or if they have a graphics category it counts on that.

still debating on the side graphics.... go or no?!? need help!!! thanks - chris

I personally don't like graphics (jdm ones are ok but i'm really picky), but decals for parts is nice. Right on the front part of the front doors, lining vertical. btw Your car looks amazing (i love JDM), i'm trying to do the jdm look too but i don't have the money for the rims to make it look like the cars you see in japan or hk.

ic ic, thanks for the comment :) your car is turning out dope dude. i think im just going for roll call on my door. cheaper too hehe peace - chris

L8R, I personally dont like graphics, but your car will be invisible at shows, I can guarantee it. If you want to show your car, you should use some simple graphics at least, so you can get a couple of points instead of zeeeeeero. I can atest that my big spider is too much, but in my first show with it brought so much attention (good or bad) that I know is necessary.

pirana, what the crap are you talkin about??
your spider is freakin badA$$.
and it really doesnt matter what graphics you get, not every body or judge will feel the same.
if you like it, thats all that matters.and most car shows any vinyl or painted graphic's count as points. if you get those i would proportion it a little more towards the front so the front end isnt so bare!
