2006 Mazda Tribute S-V6
as chuyler1 suggested, i started a new thread, first of all, i'm thinking of buying a MX-6 for january-february 2006, i'm thinking of a nice audio system with amps subs, etc, but not too powerful because i dont want to get tickets as of the 25 foot law in florida, i wanted to know what would be best equipment for that, so i can check pricing and start saving for that.

Thanks

Start with a budget and a plan.

If money is tight I would suggest starting with a 4 channel amp, a set of components, and a subwoofer or two. From there you could add a new head unit since the MX-6 is an older car and it may not even have a CD player.

If you're looking to spend more money, then skip the 4-channel amp and buy a pair of amps. You want about 75-100 watts for the components and no more than 500-750 watts for the subs (any more is just for show or going deaf). The rest of your money should go into nicer components.

Once all that is hooked up you can think about an equalizer or processor (staying with the SQ route) or audio/video components. It all depends on what you want to do.

500-750 for a sub amp... damn i only have 300 and that puts quite a bit of thump to my music... basicaly what ^^chuyler^^ said you need a budget and what kinds of things you are looking for... hu...sat radio... mp3 options.... video stuff.. and what kind of sound you want... and don't forget the wiring and distro stuff... that can add up quick as well...

For a hatchback you can get by with 200-300 watts, but for a larger car with a separate trunk, you need more power to get that bass back into the car. You could do a custom install along the rear deck but if you were capable of doing that you wouldn't be asking questions here (aka, its easier said than done).

What year MX-6 are you looking at getting? If it's the 93-97 model I can give you a lot of install advise as I probably went through 7 systems total in my old one. Best thing is the dash has two DIN openings to use for radios and other stuff and you can squeeze three out of it if you remove the ashtray. As for speakers you have 5x7's in both the front and rear. With a custom mounting plate in the front you can fit a shallow 8" in the doors with a little trimming to the back of the door panel.

gotcha makes sense...

I'm using a pioneer deck and the radio kicks ass. however the cd no longer ejects and I have to pull it out with my fingers.

I have a sanyo in my van and I love it. It is by far better than any alpine I have ever owned(I still love alpine but thier getting redulously expencive while quality is dropping)

I would also recoment blaupunkt. Their new linup is realy impressive.

For speakers I have allways been parcial to Blitz audio. but soundstreem and lanzar are also recomendable.

For amps highly recomend soundstream or pheonix gold, but older model US Accustics are excelent as well.

I've expirimented with just about everything out there and I have found the best sound with these components.

I just noticed you're in florida. I would not recomend Blitz audio for your climate. The tweeters tend to fall of thier holders when exposed to sunlight or heat. So unless they are keped out of the sun then tey are not for you.

If you want custom Kick panels let me know. I still have them, the speakers for them and a custom dual 12" sub box that i built for mine.
I will sell you all of it at a really low price.

Sanyo better than Alpine??? Blitz? Lanzar?!! (yupnope)

Tell me what your idea of everything out there is because I find it very hard to believe that Sanyo, Blitz (never even heard of them) and Lanzar are top notch components.

Off the top of my head you should have a listen to...
head units: Clarion, Eclipse, Nakamichi, Pioneer and Alpine (not the bargain basement models of course)
amps: JL Audio, PPI, XTANT, DLS
speakers: DLS, CDT, Alpine, Focal, Diamond, MB Quart ...

These brands will not fall apart on a hot summer day.
