I am James Ritter (family has always called me Jamie, have an uncle named James too...and it kind of stuck)...

I grew up in Alexandria PA, and now live in State Collge...which is about 35 miles north or so of Alexandria...I have been going to Penn State University for 3 years, and will graduate next May hopefully with a BS in Mechancal Engineering...I may then go for a Masters in the field, if funding works out...

Not too much interesting, I have been with my girlfriend for over 5 years...and am planning on spending the rest of my life with her...I love cars, and snowboarding, good movies, and scandanavien(sp?) metal...and drinking...I drink a lot (my parents were always pretty cool about it when i was younger, and never minded if I was at one of my close friends house or at home...but when since I have turned 21 and been able to do it regularly, it might be getting a little out of hand)...not in a scary alcoholic way, but its college and all of my friends and I drink a lot and break stuff often...We have some great distributors and small pubs in town, with lots of Imported beers...so we try to get a different case every weekend...been going strong for about 3 months, and haven't had the same beer twice...but we are running out of new stuff to try that is under 40 bucks a case...We drink lots of Jegar and Rumpleminze (screamin' Nazi's)...with the occasional full shot of Bacardi 151 chasing it (Nazi witch King, or Liquid Cocaine if you are a punk)...but enough of my dark side...i am still an alright guy...

I am truely addicted to Porsche...everything I have grown to love about cars centered on Porsches since I was 2 years old...I have already started saving for a used GT-2 (hahahahhaha i am pathetic, but I will own one dammit) if one becomes available ever...I would buy that over any new "nice" BMW or any car......by the time I am approaching 30, hopefully I could get my hands on a used one for like $60,000...I will live in a garage if I have to...

I have owned a 95 Neon DOHC ACR...which was my first and second favorite car...It was light and had stock Koni struts...and decent power stock...only owned it for a year until I parked it against a big rock in the rain, and somehow snapped the gearbox...With the insurance money I bought a 93 Ford Probe GT...favorite engine I have ever owned...nice and smooth and sounded great...But that thing was a disaster every where else...the supension was shot, rust everywhere...had like 7 differen owners to in a 90,000 mile lifespan...which was all before me...it ran, but was far from reliable...stalled all the time...and I never modded it at all...

I traded that in for like 400 bucks for my P5 in Feb of 02...its a black Mica with only options being wheel locks and a security alarm...which is the funniest car alarm Ev4rr!!@one...and it is my first car to actually make any changes to...

So far I have:
Tecnomagnesio white "indianapolis" 17/7.5 wheels
Parada Spec 2 215/40 tires
Tein S-Tech springs
MP3 struts
AWR engine mounts and rear bar...as well as a header in about 3 weeks..
J-Spec intake/MS exhaust cam...not in car right now, on the lab floor at school
DaveB gauge rings
RB exhaust is in the garage, and not installed...

Soon to come includes:
Installation of parts I haven't yet...
built MP3 FS NA engine (poking at 185whp or so when installed and tuned)
TWM short-throw shifter
New clutch and Fidanza flywheel
Link standalone (not guaranteed it will be a Link...but at this point most likely)
custom CF intake
DGM urethane lip and grille
possibly lighter wheels, and definately a CF hood for some weight savings...

I am extremely dedicated to NA in this community...but have no preference whatsoever with the "other" route in general...just depends on what car it is...for proteges; it is my strong opinion that this chassis deserves a strong high strung NA engine...I will never own a FWD car with a ton of boost and a ton of torque...I couldn't live with myself...

Ahh, another Jager fan!! I've also heard of the Jager/Rumple/151 called "Liquid Heroin." Used it as a "working title" for one of my instrumentals. Used to keep the sacred green bottle in my glovebox......................

Anyhow, glad to see all you N/A guys bringing something to the table. You can never have too much knowledge shared. I may not post much on here, as I am still kinda new to the import scene, but I have certainly learned a thing or three.

My name is Justin B. and I have a 2002 Pro5 currently on it's second motor. The first motor lasted 94,000 miles of relentless beating before lossing a rod bearing while driving (racing) in the mountains. I'll have to live vicariously through most of you guys for the time being as SCCA rules don't allow any internal motor upgrades in STS. What I have done is listed below.

Speed:

Injen CAI
MP3 ECU
Sparko wires
Mazdaspeed muffler
Gutted 1st cat
Goodridge SS Clutch line (red...of course...cause it's faster)
Liquid Performance Coolant
Throttlebody coolant bypass
MSP flywheel and clutch
B&M shortshifter

coming soon...AWR Baffled Oilpan, Wagner shorty header, MPI N/A piggyback

Grip:

Goodridge SS brake lines
626 15 inch rims (painted gunmetal)
205/50-15 Azenis Sports
MP3 front swaybar
AWR 21.5mm rear swaybar
Hawk pads up front
Ground Control Coilovers
MSP struts

coming soon...AWR camber plates, AWR suspension and chassis braces, AWR custom Koni adj. shocks

I'm sure I'll think of some more stuff I forgot to mention. As you can see the majority of the money is going into the suspension since in STS there is more to be gained from that than in the motor...especially since I'm probably making more HP than most of the other cars I'm running with already. The Pro5 is just a lot heavier than all my cometition hence all the suspension money.

not to threadjack here xelder, but will we run into any issues in sts with the mpi tuner? I know that A/F is ok, but the timing advance I thought was only if factory settable?

17.10.2

Electronic components may be installed inline between an engine's sensors and ECU. These components may alter the signal coming from the sensor in order to affect the ECU's operation of the engine management system.

The timing clause 17.10.4 refers to setting factory adjustable distributer systems.

I believe it falls under the interpretation of the rules department. The MPI is nothing but an electronic device placed inline with the ECU to alter signals from the sensors and change the ECU's operation. I'm not close to being ready to buy it yet and I'm going to ask some more people what they feel about it when the time comes.

Yeah, I am not quite yet either- I do know that there is a couple of guys here in the RM region that are running the Emanage, and it can adjust the factory timing as well- I would guess that it really wouldn't be an issue until we get to nationals(which will be a very, very long time at my current rate)... Let me know if you come up with any new information regarding it though- definitely interested in a couple of options for this...

i'll give this a run, seeing as i'm squeezed into the NA box.

name's Paul T**guay, 22. I'm a System Admin./Data Analyst with the Human Resources Management System (PeopleSoft) for Correction Services Canada for the past 3yrs. Born in Ottawa, Ontario. Moved about 9 times since i was born (all within 500km of Ottawa) and now i'm back in Ottawa.

I'm a part-time student at Algonquin College in Ottawa studying for my Business Administration w/ major in Information Management Systems. It's as boring as it sounds, but it's good to have paper to back up the experience.

I'm new to this 'car' thing... I got my license 2 years ago, 2 weeks later a bought the Protege as my "point A to point B" car. Never had any idea that i would actually LIKE driving/cars.. I didn't know that modding was something real until June of 2003. Been reading and informing myself since then.

I have a 2001 protege lx2.0, Atx (i'm lazy/didn't care when i bought the car).. I'm hoping to get the little girl to ~140whp over the next year with NA mods. The car will be an amateur un-sponsored showcar when I'm done with her. A nice combination of sound, looks and speed.
Gen1GT has been kind enough to make a few Theory posts on our local board, where i'm learning little tidbits of the science involved with NA modding. Hopefully i'll get to understanding a little more.

I've been dating my crazy GF for ~4years. Our next car is supposed to be an Echo Hatchback (sad2) because that's what she wants, and i suppose she deserves her own turn. I've looked at the engine bay.. looks like that'll be an NA car too (spin) (no room for turbo)

Hi im Danny i am 20 years old and going on 21 in Jan. cars i have had in the past: 94 oldsmobile cutlass Supreme (convertable) it was a 3.6l V6 and had duel exhaust and every option available that year (H.U.D. system (thumb) ) but was slow as balls! but it was the car i prpbably had the most fun in. Next up was a 96 poniac Boniville(sp?) i had this for 3 months and the motor fried, end of story ( i hated this car), next was a 97 firebird (V6 ofcourse) and this was a car that got me all the laidies in HS, because they all thought it was cool and wanted to drive it(it would have been a better car for them to dirve anyways) and all the guys made fun of me cuz it wasnt a trans-am, then next was my sweet 2003 ES (which is the N/A car) this has been the best all around car so far, and i cant say it enough times that i love how this car handles!!!! so far i have AWR header, full 2 1/4 custom exhaust (no resonator), ground wires, AWR motor mounts, SRI, UR crank pully, AWR 21.5 rear sway, and sprint springs. best so far in 1/4 mile is in the sig. next was two more proteges of the 93 year and have since sold them for money issues (college is a b**** on the wallet) so im focasing all my attention to the 03..

Hi all, I'm new here as a posting member but I have been watching you since I found the NA Section ;)

In short my name is Pierre I'm a french Canadian from Quebec, Canada. I'm 39 y/o and have been a car nut all my life but only recently have the money to indulge myself ;)
Talking about past car I had to many and they pretty much all were beater I kept until it broke. Save for a 78 Monte Carlo wich was cool and good looking. The only performance car before my Protege was a 78 Nova with a 71 camaro Z28 350ci engine and manual trans. To bad I was such a bone head than (I was 19 y/o) and blew the engine (smash) . Otherwise, nothing noteworthy.

I have started modding my 2001 ESGT black mica protege since last year. I decided from the beginning that I would go NA all the way. So far engine wise I have a bosal cat back, wagner mid-pipe and downpipe both with catalyst and a Ebay SRI with another filter (at least I can see light true that one lol). On the suspension side I have Racing Beat coils (not MP3 or MSP but from racing beat, the same but they were new ;) ) and a msp rear sway bar. Future mod include Wagner shorty header (to go with the rest), Wagner cams (when they come out) and Tokiko Illumina shocks.

I am going for the sleeper look so there won't be any more drop to it, nor will there be any exterior change. I'm also looking for another muffler because the bosal one is to loud for a sleeper, got a sweet sound thougt ;)

Sweet, another Canadian. Im French/Canadain too, although I grew up in Ontario. My car is a total sleeper, although it's extremely loud. There's not much you can do about that though, and most people nowadays don't relate loudness to how fast a car is, since everyone and their grandma has exhaust on slow cars. I hope you get what you're looking for on the board though, but don't hold your breath for the Wagner cams.....

Name's Devon Bain. I'm a Economics/Political Science double major at the University of South Carolina. I'm also a pool service tech and a tournament paintball player. Oh, and I fence Epee, too.

As for my car, her name is Lily. 2002 Protege 5 in Midnight Blue. Previous to her was a '93 Honda Accord with 190k on the original clutch at time of selling. Horrible car but freaking bulletproof.

I love my Pro5 with all my heart and am staying N/A for as long as I can. Currently I'm replacing the suspension with Tokico HPs, Tein S Tech springs, Racing Beat swaybar, PhantomGrip LSD and perhaps a tri-point strut tower bar. Soon I hope to replace the motor mounts with AWRs and put in a TWM shortshifter with Kartboy bushings.

Current modifications are:
Magnaflow catback
OBX Header
UR Crank Pulley with Gates Belts
Injen replica CAI

All go, no show is my philosophy. And all the power in the world is no fun if you can't take it into and out of the twisties.

Hi Gen1GT, In a sence I feel like I know you a little, save the fact that you speak french ;). I have been following this site for a long time so I saw quite a few of your post and also your timeslip at the trac :) nice and I did notice you were canadian (canada) .

I totally agree with you for the sound but I'm a purist and a sleeper is a sleeper. But... I'm not so sure I want to get another muffler anymore lol ;). I can just imagine how loud and sick it will be with the shorty header on top :P :P :P (laugh) (laugh) (laugh)

Another Canadian jumping in...

Name is John, from Vancouver BC. I'm 34yrs old and have owned my 03 P5 for exactly one year today. I love it, but just wish I could afford to mod it... :)

Names Tito. Live in Jax,FL Going all motor on 00 Protege ES. Some parts installed and others coming. Hoping to break into the mid 14's when done.
