car alarms

:
2003 Black Mica MSP
I am looking to get a better than stock alarm system for my MSP and was wondering what some of the better alarm systems were.

DEI or Compustar. Do a search in the Car Audio section in the general tech area (not msp subforum). There are a lot of open threads.

Compustar. I have the 2WFMAS alarm starter. It is 2 way and also has a turbo timer.
A1.

When my warranty runs out, I plan on getting a car alarm/turbo timer/ auto start package. That is a long way off though.

yea i have a DEI 564t Hornet. good stuff
2-way pager system with remote start. .. took me an assload of time to install it. . ..relay here relay there.. . relays everywhere. . lol

Do you have any tips or tricks for the install??? I just picked up one of these and will be installing it in my P5, hopefully this weekend. I picked up a 10 pack of pre-wired Bosch relays, that should cover it?!?

well let me do a count. . .

2 relays for door lock/unlock, relay for clutch. . .that all you really need for the basic alarm featurs

an alarm itself is really just a bunc of relays that turn on and off with a radio transciever.

give youself a lot of time to do the install and read the manual for the alarm before you even look at any wireing

look at the alarm sticky on this forum for locations of all the wires and you should be good to go

i installed mine in 2 nights (lol havning to push start my car to get to work after the first night casue i go up to the part of wiring in the starter kill/remote start harness. . .so no starter was connected. . lol

i will eventually hook up chanel 2, 3 and 4 on my car to turn the carputer on and off. . and window control, but the basic alarm took me 2 nights.

it probably took longer as i work during the day so i pretty stayed awake for 48 hours straigth going to work and then working on the alarm

I like DEI's Viper line.
Compustar has been reported as having further range but also less reliability.
