I noticed lately a noise when i brake..i have new front brakes installed in april of 2004..i think my rotors are a bit out of wack..to make a long story short i went out this morning found a large nail in my tire so i took the 4 nuts off and tried to get the wheel off..it won't come off...am i missing a step in this procedure..?..they banged the wheel with rubber hammer,97 protege se..by the way this will be the third set of rotors i put on this..thanks samantha

and if that doesn't work get a porta-power.. that'll do it for sure.. or break s***

keep smacking it on the tire. kick it, or use a mallet or pipe on the inside. it'll come off.

I don't know about a porta-power, thats a little extreme. Just kick the s*** out of it for a while, spray some WD40 around the lugs and in the center, wait 5 minutes and start kicking the s*** out of it again. If worse comes to worse, go drive the car for a bit and get everything nice and hot and try again.

when they got stuck on my audi I just kicked it from the outside. kicking the car while under it makes me uneasy, even if it's on jack stands.

I don't know if the mazdas get more stuck, though.

What I do is jack the car and sit down in front of the tire.
Then alternatly kick opposite sides of the wheel with the underside of your boots; I haven't had any tire that wouldn't come loose after several kicks.
Also, when you remount the tires, put anti-seizing compound on the surface of the rotor that comes in contact with the wheel; this will make it easier to come off next time.

another thing to try is to loosen the lugs just a little, then drive the car slowly a few feet.
