This sucks, I need to change my tires and can't find the wheel lock key. Am I ****** or do the dealerships have spares? I called in, but the one near me was already closed.

Found mine ina pack of tire changing stuff. In the trunk right hand corner under the carpet, and a plastic cover.

No i had it and used it before....now can't find it. I hope they're the same for all MSPs.

Different for all MSPs...but the dealer will have your wheel lock if it is the stock one.

If your dealer does not have it (slim chance) you need to get the wheel lock code out of your manual, and call Mazda. They will send you a new one for like $13 i believe.

Mine cracked and i had to get it replaced...thats what i went through...

There is a way to get your lug off but we're not allowed to post it here. I don't know what it is but they say it's very easy and makes wheel locks pointless.

use a plasma cutter or blow torch, lug nuts tend to come right off. it will be hard to get a duplicate key, then again you might have luck. my solution is only used as a last resort.

they are not different for all msp's. Mine broke, and I used one from my buddies 2003 Orange MSP to get them off.

btw, their crap, I got rid of them. Damn things keep stripping.

actually mazda cannot get you a replacement key. McGard makes the locks for mazda so you have to mail the registration card to them to get a replacement key. You can buy a whole new set of key and locks from mazda though. Its around $35

Yeah, you can just buy a new set. There are nine different key shapes, you have one of nine. Just give 'em your code, or have them take one of their own keys and fit it to your locking lug to see which set to order.

A tire place stripped mine, and I just got another set from mazda.

BTW, you can get stronger, cheaper aftermarket keys from an auto parts store, but you might have to carry two sockets, I had problems finding a 21mm-nut key set.

dude, get like 5 or 7 MSPs arround you to get together.
one of them is bound to have the same key as you.

when mazda put this specific wheel lock on MSP....they used only 5 variations. we have tried this in our SoCal club and it works. every 5th or so MSP has the same lock/key combo as the first.

Every tool company (Snap-on, Matco, Mac etc etc) all make a special tools to get these off. Basically hammer a special socket over the locknut and zip it off w/ an impact gun. I do a couple a week w/out problem. Most people don't even know they have a lock kit let alone where the key is. I hate wasting time looking for them and I usually find some nasty s*** under the seats. Go to any independant shop. I'm sure they will take them off for you for $20. If you were near Albany, I'd take them off for free. Goodluck

im having the same problem with my locknuts, though i have the tool the wheel brace just wont budge them. I dunno if the gun at the mazda service bay has overtighten them?
