I always see web sites advertising american invoice information but does anyone know of a reliable place to get canadian invoice info?

Or does anyone happen to know the CDN invoice on a loaded P.5?

Thanks all!
Claeren.

Might i ask 4 questions:
1) What was included in the 'Protection Package'?
2) What was included in the 'Extended Warrenty'?
3) Are those the MSRP or the Invoice prices?
4) Is that what you actually paid? (What did you pay?)

Great to get this from a Calgary member!
Thanks!
Claeren.

Protection package included some rust inhibitor, under coating and fabric protectant

Extended Warranty (MAP) extends powertrain warranty from 3yr/80000k
to 7yr/160000k + roadside assistance (even for locking yourself out or running out of gas, dead battery etc). This is transferrable when you sell your car so it will also help with resale value.

Honestly Im not sure what MSRP means, these are the actually prices on the invoice for my car which I purchased from Kramer in October. I have had good look with them, but be warned , there is a dude on this site from Calgary that has not had good luck!

Happy shopping

Thanks a lot for the info.

MSRP = Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price
Invoice Price = the actual cost of the vehicle to the dealership

The sticker price is the MSRP and is the higher price and the difference over the invoice is the profit margin. Generally joe-schmo off the street is not supposed to know the invoice price because then it is far easier for them to know when the dealer is bluffing and when they actually can't sell at a certain price. It has only been over the last few years that people (through the internet, at least at first) started getting their hands on this formally guarded information - this leaking of information is what i really need. Although, this information is of much help as well because it allows me to know what the dealer is going to try to sell me and at what cost.

May i ask, is that exactly what you paid or did you get a lower price? I know it would have been much harder to get a lower price so long ago what with them still being new and rare. I was at sunridge mazda the other day and the salesmen offered me $1500 off the total price on the spot before i had barely opened my mouth (as long as the car was in stock) so i am hoping that the fact the 'newness' has started to wear off works in my favour again...

For some reason there seems to be a surplus of P5s on the dealers lots (in the Toronto area anways) ... cars that were manufactured 6 months ago or more. So it should be a great time to get a deal, with them wanting to unload 2002 stock. $1500 right off the top without even haggling is amazing in my opinion... I don't think they are making more than a few hundred dollars at that price. I went through some stessful haggling a few months ago when buying my wife's P5 to get $1000 off list.

Yikes, my dealer offered the same 'protection package' for $295. I declined anyway, but maybe the Alberta one is heavier-duty or something. I also had no 'documentation fee' to pay.

Here are the invoice prices on the P5 in Canada, from www.carcostcanada.com. These are current as of today.

Base car: MSRP $19,895 / Invoice cost $18,477
Metallic/primary colour paint: $105 / $85
Moonroof: $800 / $743
A/C: $1000 / $929
Automatic transmission: $1000 / $929

freight is $895 and A/C tax, if applicable, is $100.

Considering that the dealer is only making about $1400 on the base car, if they're offering $1500 off the 'total price' my guess would be some of that discount is coming off inflated prices of protection packages and documentation fees. Make sure you know what the 'total price' includes.

Exactly. Have them break out the final price into each invidual item . I found they tried to add in the $105 paint charge for my red P5 (there is *no* colour surchage for red) and $100 or so for "Protector Plus" theft protection ( all glass is etched with a number that is cross-referenced to your VIN number)... but I did not ask for it a.... it was already on the car on the lot.. I had those amounts quickly dispensed with. Also 'Admin' Charge or 'Documentaion' charge is another way they get money from you. These are usually negotiable if you're a good haggler.

The salesman said it had to be on the lot, and because they have like 40+, i can see where they are just writing off the freight. Also the price was off the GST included so in a way it is less because they are kind of adding 7% in GST to the amount they are giving me off (does that make sense?) and they also know me really well because my best friend worked there for a few years.

Actually the EXACT same thing happened to me when i was looking at a Acura EL 1.7. The salesmen offered me $1400 off right away if it was a car on the lot.

It is kind of funny though because when i go car shopping and i say i am open to buying a car they offer like $300 off IF i haggle but the two times (in the same day actually) that i say there is no way i will buy that day and they offered me those 2 deals without me saying a word.

They were like "If i could get you a really good deal could i interest you?"

And i said "no, just looking"

And they said "well here, i'll write the price normally asked and then my price and if you want to do a deal we can put it through right now"

And i say "No, io am really not interested now, maybe in a month though"

And they say "Well take a look at that and make sure you call me, John Smith"

And i am like "sure"

Crazy eh?
When i do want to go buy i have to make sure i act the same way - like i don't care...

Claeren

PS - Thanks for the invoice info, that is a big help! I would give you karma if i could...

Just to confirm bmorton,

I have received the exact number from Car Cost Canada in March, 2002 when i was searching for a new car.

It may well be a dealer's rebate we are not aware of, but CCC should give us that as well, so i think bmorton was right about inflated price on other things
