Can the MSP still drive with a broken LSD?

Th stuff I read when searching indicates that a broken LSD stops the car, or at least makes a terrible noise.

I just got this car, so I don't know whats been done to it. it has around 60k miles on it.

So anyways, the other day, I'm trying to get out of a really tight spot on a steep hill, and I did a burnout accidentally.

I got out to check if i was clear, and since the parking lot was made of concrete, I could see the rubber spray from the burnout.

It was only on one side! I thought an LSD was supposed to prevent one wheel burnouts!

So is it possible for the LSD to fail, and have the car still drive fine for years? or could the LSD have been replaced with a cheaper non LSD diff at some point?

thanks!

You really shouldn't even be trying burn outs with a msp. The diff is to fragile.

he wasnt trying to, and if you burned out pretty hard and there was just one wheel leaving rubber the PO probably cracked the stock diff and replaced it with an open one from a junkyard. sorry for the bad news.

you could go somewhere flat straight an level and deliberately do ONE burnout to check. its not a good idea to do more than a couple times though.
