Can the Bose sub work without the spare wheel? 2023 CX-5

I'm thinking about removing the spare for weight savings & storage space. But that begs the question, can I keep using the Bose wheel sub?

You can still use the spare as a spare, no problem. Why do you think it will no longer function?

Well, I guess technically you're right. I did maintain the same total diameter so I already took care of myself there. Getting a little ahead with my thoughts here.

But let's say I wanted to remove it anyway. Does the sub need the spare to function?

So it turns out you can not secure the Bose sub with the hardware given if you don't have the spare in there. You'll have to rig up something custom.

I thought they were supposed to fit down inside of the spare?

They must have changed things up. Strange why they would do that.

The bolt is way too long for the sub alone. I suppose you could find a bunch of large nuts to spin onto it or put something under the sub.

Fellas you can just velcro the bose sub to the carpet in the cargo area. I installed the jbl sub low level, preserving the bose sub, so now I run them both in my 22 turbo cx5.

I recently looked at cx8 that had the Bose subwoofer and no spare tire. It was factory mounted to the left hand side of the wheel well. Brackets were obviously factory and molded carpet in the wheel well .it was a 6 seater with Bose
