There's a lot of other factors involved also. I got a 100 mph ticket on a 70 zone when I was driving to Vancouver a few months ago. At first, the cop said he was going to give me a "reckless" ticket, but decided to give me "negligent" instead. That alone helps a lot, but these were the factors I stated at court:
1 - My car was brand new (a '04 Mazda 6), and I was anxious to test it out.
2 - I didn't see many other cars near me, and I intentionally made myself aware of that, and because of that, I was not trying to put anyone in danger.
3 - I just graduated from college. (I figure a "good" character can help somehow...plus, no one disputed my claim.)
4 - I have a clean record
The judge's reply was, he never does this kind of action, but he dropped it and gave me a deferral, only paying $150 (with no blemish on my record) because I seemed sincere and remorseful.
Too bad, you're not under 18 though. A friend told me that your record is cleared after you turn 18, and I think it might be true in some cases because I got a 97 mph ticket on a 55 zone when I was 16, and it's not on my record now.
