Can Someone Explain The Concept Of Hid?

I have a feeling your lights do not look like this..

hahah they looked somewhat like that until i put the proper wattage bulb in since the idiot owner before me put 70watt blue bulbs in and didnt do anything else to the electrical causing me to fry my light bulb connections. but sadly i now have the regular ole h7's that dont look so pretty

Brian you have the nicest car on this site!!!! nooo doubt, thats also one of the best pics ive ever seen, nice work (i have a white p5) but can only dream it will someday look as good as that

Have you been living under a rock? HID/Xenon lighting has been around for more than a decade.

The concept of HID is very simple actually. A regular incandesent bulb (the type most headlights are) uses a filament inside of a sealed glass bulb, which glows when electrical current passes through it.

An HID "bulb" actually is a capsule that is filled with a gas which glows when an electrical charge is applied. Similar to a flourescent light, or even closer, one of those big Mercury Vapor lights on the outside of a commercial building. That is why they are so white and bright.

They're blinding lights that are extremely annoying to be in front of, especially when you're looking uphill and an oncoming car with HIDs is on the crest.

Don't get me started with SUVs and modded cars that don't have them aimed properly... I have a slight astigmatism and it doesn't affect my night vision for normal lights, but the HIDs just bloom like crazy.

The only people who complain about them are the people who don't own them.. :)

Don't want to flog the dead horse (again), and I'm sure there are as many for HIDs as against them, but IMO, bunging HID bulbs in a headlight casing designed for halogens is a really stupid idea and should be made illegal (if it isn't already).

bixenons are the WORST when its pitch black. i had a beamer come at me with the high beams on and i couldnt see anything at all
