I'm not going to waste my time explaining the simple business logistics of making a good profitable... But wth, here's a synopsis.
Basically:
1. The R&D would be pretty expensive
2. The fabrication would be a PITA
3. The Demand would not be very high
4. The end price of the kit would have to be reallyyyy expensive, and therefore, again the demand lowers even more.
5. You could spend less money on forged internals and Boost like mad for more power, & less money.
Overall it's a pretty bad idea.
That's 2 minutes of my life I will never get back.
Back to the dremel and my wheels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad you understand basic Business concepts. But try thinking beyond the basics. If a tunning company is struggling to stay afloat. Then sure make Cold air intakes out of ebay pipes and advertise up to 20 whp.
However if your a good company. Then you'd know if you were known for producing rare products other people don't have. Then word of mouth will spred. What's a widely known motor mount company? Hasport? Even though not everyone drives Honduh's, people know that company for having custom motor mount kits, wiring harnesses, obd0 to obd1 or obd2 conversions etc.
1. The R&D can be done in a garage with simple measurement devices and a spare engine and tranny.
2. You enter your design in a simple autocad format, send it to a machine shop and press a button. A couple of welds and your done.
3. I'm sure there will be great interest I were to say I have a swap kit that allows Protege owners to swap in an actual performance motor and not a POS FSDE/ZE/DET.
4. The end price is targeted to people that actually have spare cash to waste, NOT invest, in a car.
5. Are you kidding me? Most swap kits for other cars go for $1000-$1500. A set of decent forged pistons and rods will run you close to the $1000 mark. Plus you have to deal with building the motor, getting an expensive Standalone, tuning time, plus all the other Turbo components needed.
Overall.. This is why Mazda has no real aftermarket support. Because it's full of Biased, poor and unmotivated people to do some research.
