will any other engine fit in my mp3 like the mazdaspeed? or anything so its not the slowest car with the best handeling ever?(scratch)

Mazdaspeed engine is the same. Only difference is the turbo. If you want more power, turbo is the only way to go with these cars. You can look into doing a V6 KL swap but it's a royal pain in the ass..

cool thanks a lot do you think it would be hard to do a mazda speed swap? or is the engine i have in my car the same internally? so i could just go get a turbo kit and a mazda speed ecu?

Yeah no kidding, the MS3 swap would be hell and hardly worth it. Just buy a MS3 if that's what you're gonna do.

Honestly, your most affordable option for more power is going to be a turbo kit. The KL swap is pretty sick, but it's a lot of work and the wiring is a nightmare.

so a mazda 3 swap would give me how much more power? hopefully faster then a 1500 dollar civic? also where could i find a engine if anyone has got one b4?

No, a Mazda 3 engine will not swap in. Well.. anything will swap with enough money but something tells me that if you bought a MP3 then you don't have pools of money at your disposal.

Engine swaps are not very common with these cars. About the only swap that has been done is the JDM FS-ZE and the V6 KL-DE or KL-ZE. That's it. And you can probably count the total number of swaps on your hands and toes..

price is a problem idk if i should just turbo im mechanically inclined so i know what im doing but id want to do the easy cheaper thing. that will still give me the power im looking for. if you were to do it in my position what swap would you do? or turbo kit?

If I was in your position I would turbo it, since that's what I did to mine lol.

its done then im going to turbo mine. what internals are in yours ? did you upgrade your pistons and what not? or does the fs-de have the same internals as the 03 mazdaspeed 3

turbo kit is the easiest thing for power.. the msp has the exact same internals as the n/a 2.0 .. a swap from another mazda will be alot of work and money. All the work isnt worth it in my opinion.. but if you do decide on just boosting your n/a dont expect to boost that much, our bottom ends arent so strong. I would do things the smart way and definatly upgrade on internals especially rods, I hear alot of msp guys say they've thrown rods on stock boost. Then again internal upgrades can get pricey.. it all depends on what your budget is..

i could prolly afford to buy a bottom end that is built. then just get the turbo kit for it.. maybe run more boost even with the bottom upgraded?

why won't ms3 sswap into protege?, it will be done sooner or later

no it won't. in all seriousness, it won't. its not even remotely worth it. where to start.

1) doesn't share the same mounting points at all. you'd have more luck swapping it into a focus. the engine is from a whole new family and doesn't remotely line up with the axles nor would it bolt to the transmission. the ms3 axles would be needed and won't mate to the hubs and suspension of a protege.

2) exhaust and intake are reversed. on the protege, intake manifold is in the back and exhaust manifold is upfront. nothing would line up, period. generous amounts of custom work notwithstanding.

3) engine would not run without its own computer, which will not run without its own gauge cluster, which will not run without its own key and lock cylinders, which will not run without its own immbolizer. none of which remotely plugs into or fits anything into a protege. standalones cannot run these engines thanks to ....

4) direct injection fuel system.

5) the engine is just frankly not that good. ms3/6ers who disagree with me, please stop. its not that good of an engine and everyone who is making real power on them now knows it. the FS-DE has a keyway to lock the crank and cams for perfect timing. the DISI does not. people blow them up stock, people blow them up at 350 whp. its far cheaper to build an FS-DE and make that same number than it ever would be to "Drop in" an ms3 engine. plus, the FS-DE is smaller and lighter and spare parts are far more readily available and cheaper.

could it be done? sure. will it be done? probably not. there is absolutely nothing gained through even remotely considering the swap. you'll be as fast or faster with a more reliable setup sticking with built turbo FS than cobbling together a DISI swap and going broke in the process.

+1 the best thing i've ever done to my protege... as for adding a turbo kit there is a thread about it and just about everything that you will need... if i were you i would make a custom kit but the easier route would be to find a msp turbo setup... or give kooldino a holla he's making some sweet progress on his kit

as for what you would want for the bottom end is in this picture.... you will need most of this stuff pictured... yes this is mine and has been sitting under my bed for over a year... blah no money for a spare motor as of yet...

MS3 swap... no deals... listen to Ken he knows what he's talking about
