can a squealing belt or vacuum leak cause this?

Can a squealing drive belt (since february 2012) cause battery problems and stalling? The squeal happens during cold starts and goes away as soon as i shift the gear. The instrument panel is dim and cuts off, horn is low, and radio cuts off.

Yesterday after a 30 minute highway drive the car started to act funny. it would hesitate when accelerating and stall when slowing down to turn. When i turn it back on the car makes a strange rattle sound that was constant when driving between 2000 - 3000 rpm. Also the rpm wouldn't go past 3000. This happened once before back in march 2012.

The egr valve is loose because of a missing bolt. so it moves around if a touch it. vacuum leak?

The battery was around 12 volts i believe and with the car running around 13-14.

no battery light or cel when the car is running. I'm assuming the alternator is fine.

I'm about to order the serpentine belt.

Replace belt and make sure the belt is tighten. Also you need to get the other bolt for that EGR valve. A loose squealing belt can turn into a damage one and needs to be replace. I would try to go to the dealership or a auto store to see if they can give you the bolt or the bolt size.

Also replace both belts

Doesn't matter, I bought mine from Autozone for $20. That includes the serpentine belt and the drive belt. You might as well change both anyway cause you have the to take off the power steering belt to get to the alternator belt.

my car was acting funny last month.. and as in funny i mean every time I take a right hand turn it would stall.. after i waited with the key off it would restart, but not be drivable without slipping the clutch.. But it turned out my main fuse in the fuse box was loosing connection.. So if your having problems with it stalling and not running right check your main relay fuse

Well i just bought the 2 belts from rockauto. came up to $50.42 and they are gates. half of the price went towards shipping though...

ok thanks.

so this morning i was able to secure the egr valve with the one bolt by really tightening it. it doesn't move now. still the car wouldn't start. i swapped the battery with my accord and now the car starts fine. i let it run idle for a while. the voltage reading is around 13.xx v when the car is running. the ac was working fine. i shut the car off and started it fine with no problems. I guess it was a vacuum leak from the egr valve and a faulty 11 month old battery . now all i have to do is buy the egr bolt.

I have nearly the same car and had multiple issues with my shop not being able to stop the squealing at startup. Though i didnt experience any of your other problems...

Seems like the place had to tweak it a couple times, even after they considered the problem fixed.
