Got the car back from service today and I noticed a 3" scratch down the drivers door. I know damn well it wasn't there yestureday but I am not sure if it was there when I picked up the car. Could a rock on the highway coming up cuase that?

Perhaps but most likey NO!
With a scratch that size you would atleast have some impact point on the body.
But just a scratch:NOPE.

Say someone scrapped it in the parking lot or they walked by it with a tool and whacked it. :( :'(

Its at knee level. I will bring it to there attention tomarrow

sure a rock can cause that. but only if someone picked it up, and dragged it along your car.

Obviously going to be hard to prove this one but I shall persivear

Tell them if they are not going to fix it you are:
1. going to call/write to mazda NA
2. write to BBB
3. going to file a claim with your insurance company saying that it was dealerships fault. Make your insurance argue with the stealer

I would say its a typo but I would be lying, I can't spell and I don't really car. But thank you none the less :D

WO!
I haven't even brought it to their attention yet. They were closed when I noticed it.
I will talk to them tomarrow and get it sorted out, i justed needed to be certian a rock or other typical road item could't cuase that before I rasie hell if I must.

NO. Simple physics a rock cant' leave a straight mark. Unless you were going hella fast. It would still leave a mark going down or something like that.

cool, it was definitly new or should I say fresh since nothing had even rubbed it like when you can buff it a bit with your finger to hide some of white but the line is still there.

I've got something like that on my rear drivers side door. It is very light, about 3 inches long as well...The weird thing is it is the same depth from point to point. It goesup and to the right at about a 75 degree angle. It is about 6-8inches up from the bottom of the door. Very weird position to be a rock, but I just can't see it being something that was dropped from above. I'll see if I can get a pic of it to show you...

The update:

I called the next morning. I mentioned the car was scratched possibly at the allignment shop and the service manager said, "Oh no!, get it in here sometime and we'll take care of it, shouldn't be to hard."

Thats it all good :D.

For the record, ITS NOT A MZADA DEALER, actualy they are a Pontiac, Jeep dealer but are the best service I know of so they are the only place that touches my car.

There is more to the story though. When I had picked up the car I noticed there was a $30 labor charge to change the tranny fluid. When I had the clutch put on I had them use Redline. The damn gasket leaked so they had to take it a part and re-seal it. Without me even asking they said they had already ordered more redline fluid free of charge and would swap it in when it came in as there dealer was out of it. i mentioned the overcharge and they said no worries its already credited to your account. Also the 1/2 bottle they didn't need is in my back seat, they actualy gave it back to me without me asking.

Also I had taken it in for brake pads as dutin ght ecars inspection this year the tech, a different place, mentioed the rear pads were basicly gone. The dealership took the time to check all the pads, called me and say all of them had more then 1/3rd left so don't bother changing them yet. Free of charge for the check.

I love those guys!
