Hey, I was looking at the MAZDASPEED camshafts from SR Motorsports today - not a bad price for a 20 hp gain if you buy intake and exhaust sets. I was wondering a few things...could I get my Mazda dealer to install them? I assume then my warranty would be safe. Also, how much risk does it pose to the engine/tranny to have these cams in there? Anyone done these kinds of mods before?

I have mine on order it should srrive sometime next week. It would be very expensive to have a Mazda dealer install it for you, im guessing $700++ for it to be covered under warranty. check out the thread on www.protegeclub.com the have people that installed these cams.

first off you would have to ask your dealer if he would install them...but that alone is NO guarentee that it won't void your warrantee....IF lets say you have a valve fail..and drop in the cylinder and trash it....the dealer COULD blame it on the cam....then he COULD, NOT cover it under warrantee. but what he has to do is PROVE that the cam caused the problem in order to not honor the warrantee.

Risk....not much at all.

yep this is very true.....of you look at the cam profiles....they are barely much more lift and duration than the stock cams.
