how much did it cost you to turbo your car?
did you do any internal upgrades? ecu upgrades?
etc.

and i created this just to see how many people have done this :)

not many that i can think of...but there is still hope...i have an auto as well and would like to see the results of this thread

Same here, I was thinking of turboing my auto but havent heard of anyone doing it so i would like to see the results if someone has.

its been done... just gotta keep the boost low and possibly run a tranny cooler

There are a few of us autos that have turboed. Bazooka Joe and Krayziefox are two I can name off the top of my head. I am 5 weeks away from my install day so I will be turbod soon as well. With the auto, your tranny will blow before your engine. A tranny cooler is a must and even if you dont go turbo, you should put one on. They're cheap and will greatly increase the life of your transmission. There are a couple of threads on turboing your auto in the FI and protege5 subforums that you should read thru before starting anything. It's taken me three years to work up the nerve to turbo and when I did, I made sure I have all the parts I need.

u definitly will need some sort of ems

u cant use the MSP ecu on an auto protege

The most reliable thing for the auto seems to be the Flyin Miata o2 voltage clamp and the BEGi RRFPR. Stock ECU.

I'm not a p5 but I do drive an automatic protege es that has been turboed for 11k miles. Using the ssafc as my ems so far with not to many issues.

See that's pretty sweet. I've heard the ssafc is a hit or miss though. Some guys like you have it go perfect and smooth while others can't get it tuned right at all.

It takes alot of time messing with the tune to get it pretty decent for the road. Still got some more tuning to do with it. But for anyone using the ssafc with the non msp ecu its a must to get bigger injectors like the wrx 440cc like I did. But then I had to retune the entire open loop map while in boost for all the extra fuel. Also had to tune the closed loop vacuum side of the map too.

Is the AEM ems the same thing as the split second? Also, if you buy a stand alne ems, will it work for turbo application?
