Call Options When Using CarPlay

I’ve got a strange issue when making calls (phone or messenger). Previously, when I made or received a call it would automatically shift to CarPlay, and the screen would go basically blank except the name or number of the caller, and the green and red call “buttons” to either call or end a call. About two weeks ago I received a call and now the screen is black with only the words “entertainment options are unavailable while call is in progress”. No other options. I can’t even end the call on the touchscreen. I have to literally end it from my phone itself, which kinda negates the hand free usage. I can click the big dial and it goes back to the 5 options of settings, entertainment, safety, navigation, etc. but hit entertainment, and reverts back to the entertainment options message. Is this something new from an update or something? Any help appreciated, as this is driving me nuts!

I haven’t tried, but used to be able to do so from the screen. That option went away

I would delete the CarPlay connection from the phone completely and redo the pairing process.
