California Bay Area Flash

They kept my car for the day, but now that they know what's going on and if you make an appointment I would guess not more then 2 hours.

Do you know the name of the guy that does the flashes, so I can just call him and ask rather than dealing with car salesmen that will more than likely give me the run-around?

Where is Tustin Mazda? In Nor Cal?? I want to know the name of the guy at Oak Tree Mazda, since I live in that area.

oops. it's socal. but it's worth the drive. they have a popcorn machine...

got mine at oak tree too. Dropped it off at 1:00 had it back at 3:30. Made apt. day before. Peter is srvc. manager. Bing you should be able to talk to him also.

Hey,

Bing is the guy that I talked to originally. We had it out at first (I was the first person in to ask for it) but turns out he is a cool guy and was just doing his job and hadn't been informed by the service manager of the flash yet. You should have no problems if you call the service department and ask for bing, and tell them you need to make an appointment to have your mazdaspeed flashed.

P.S. you san jose guys need to check out the HWY 9 fun run thread and say hi. Just go to the last page say and we can figure out when to meet again. Hopefully we'll be having another more organized San Jose meet in the not so distant future. Would be nice to meet ya!

Okay, just to let you know, I decided not to get the flash today. I was running behind schedule, and didn't have time. I talked to Pete though, and he said bring it down whenever I had time. I told him I had some new mods, and he said not to worry, but to make sure only to talk to him about it. He also asked me to bring both my stock alarm fob's, and both of mine from my Viper...Anyone know why he would need these?? Could the stock alarm failing be reason why some people's cars were not starting afterwards??

Ok, I'll be going down to Stockton Mazda tomorrow. I got a 9:30am appointment for the flash. Pete told me to make sure only to talk to him, so let's hope he's in a good mood tomorrow:D

I'm getting my MSP reflashed at Putnam Mazda in Burlingame.
They just received the flash late last week.

Just called Menlo Mazda a couple of days ago, and they said the technician who will perform the flash gets back next week. So I asked him if I could get it done next week, and he said I should be able to. FYI.

Okay guys, I got it done. SO far, so good. I couldn't find anything to re-attach my vaccuum line where the FPR kit is, so I haven't taken it out yet. I also turned out the knob on my MBC, but it shows it still spiking to over 10PSI. I haven't gotten on it too hard yet, but I can definately tell a difference.
I looked on the receipt, and look what it said:
"Customer states the engine hesitates and has a loss of power and advise(whatever that part means).
Cause: PCM programming
Technician road tested the vehicle and verified the customers concern of the engine hesitating with loss of power. Reflashed PCM per techline. Road teasted vehicle. Engine hesitation and loss of power is gone at this time."
I gave Pete the alarm fobs, and only had one of the stock ones. He hesitated for a second, saying they needed both of them, but never went into detail on why. I told him the Viper had been installed to over ride the stock alarm, and he said they do what they could to make it work. It worked, I still don't know why they needed them though. (shrug)

Stockton Mazda SALES department...

I've been down to Stockton when I first checked out the MSP, and have talked with them recently as I'm getting closer to making a decision. Seems like everyone likes the service department down there, but how many of you actually purchased from Stockton Mazda? On top of Putnam Mazda advertising at least 1 MSP at $15,888, I've also got prices of $17,500 to $17,995 from several area dealers, yet through e-mail with a sales manager at Stockton (don't recall his name) they have been unwilling to budge off of MSRP. Just curious as this is the first thread I have seen with mention of Stockton.

Whcich MSP are you looking for? the '03 or the '03.5's? Stockton Mazda has at least one of each of the 6 colors. They have a Spicy Orange out front that was under 17 grand I believe. You would have to go into te dealership with some cash in hand ready to buy one in order for them to budge even the slightest bit about MSRP. When I bought mine, he wouldn't even help me work out the payment size unless I had enough for the down payment THAT day. I've never dealt with any other Mazda dealerships, but Stockton has a lot of cool people working there. Most of them call me by name everytime I go in there, and they always ask me how I like my car and what new stuff I've done. Very friendly guys. But, If you can buy it cheaper somewhere else, you can always take it to Stockton for any work it should ever need. I've got a hook up in parts too if you ever need anything.
Hurry up and buy one though, because we need another Sacramento Mazdaspeed on here. It's only me right now, and a few P5's.

I'll probably be looking to get an 03.5 in Titanium gray. Last time I was down at Stockton (a couple months ago) they had a yellow 03.5 in front of the dealership and a black 03 in the showroom. I mentioned there was another dealer selling the 03 for $15,888 and while they didn't just laugh at me, they obviously either knew they couldn't match it, or thought I was wrong.

The only '03 they had left last time was the black one - so they have a spicy now? I'll be passing through on Sunday and will probably stop to look as the spicy is my second color choice - first if the price is right. I need to sell two other cars first, but as soon as they're gone I'll be trying to track down the color I want at a good price, hopefully Stockton can help me out but I'm also the type of person who will hop on a plane and fly down to LA for a good deal.

Hey 2K3 - were you over at best buy on Arden tonight? I stopped by there and saw a spicy msp in the lot. Figure it must have been you since it had tint and a couple small stickers on the rear side windows just like your sig. I stood out there and checked it out for a few minutes since I've never seen a spicy in person, only in pics. Definitely a nice color, I'm debating if I could drive an orange car around for the next five years, or if it would wear on me eventually and I'll wish I had titanium gray. Then again, I'm driving around a yellow VW now so I think I can handle the bright colors.

That was me!! Sweet!! I was picking up Scarface and my PS2 network adaptor. Yeah, I was at Stockton Mazda on Wednesday, and they have a Spicy orange right out front. I believe it's been there the whole time. They had one of each of the 6 colors as of Wednesday.
