Have installed the MS intake, MS exhaust, TMIC 3.25 upgrade and CPE cat down pipe with hoses all around.

I am running the Cobb electronics. What is the best map? The Stag2+SF 93 v103 +TMIC ? From what I am reading new plugs are in order. I am running 93 octane.

I want a daily driver with a conservative tune. Would the 91 octane map be better for this?

Sorry if this has been asked many times already.

Doc-1......if you have easy access to 93 octane fuel..then by all means stage 2 mscai with 93 oct would be the map to go with..if your putting 91 octane fuel..then go witht he 91 map. but yes stage 2 mscai is a good starters map for you. Make sure you do some datalogs with your Accessport. Look at your knock and fuel trims ect. and see how your car is running. Id say your car should pull pretty darn hard and wouldnt be surprised if your pushing about 300 whp at stage 2..regardless driveabilty is more important than power. Another suggestion is once you start getting into the stage 2 area..its usually a good idea to look into a custom tune..the off the shelf maps will hold you for now and who knows maybe you will be golden..but more than likly youll either need to use the access tuner race to try to tune your car yourself if you KNOW what your doing...OR have Cobb make a custom map for your car for couple hundred bucks OR go to a Cobb tuner and have them tune&dyno your car..either way goodluck..you got alot of options in front of you and watch your car's performance closely :)

Running 91 octane map with 93 octane fuel

I realize that this is a shallow question but I will ask it all the same. Do I need to take the car to Cobb or is there enough information that a custom map is something I can purchase?

Would running the 91 octane map with 93 octane fuel be a good be if I want a conservative map?

yes...its alwas safe to run higher octane in that case...just obviously dont run 93 maps with 91 gas lol. and yes you can get in touch with cobb and ask them to make a map just for your car...youll send datalogs to them and then they will fine tune it more and more till your car is running nice and smooth...i wanna say 150-200 bucks gets that done. Honestly if 93 octane fuel is abundent where you are, then go 93octane...dont feel like you gotta be "conservative" if you got the right octane and the supporting mods to run that map which you seem to..then your fine :) But yes if you WANT you can run a 91 map and fill your car with 93 gas....if anything it might help with engine knock if you end up getting some. :)

Good News and Good News

WoW I Like it. I guess that is why I am not in business. I would never had thought of it. Well looks like I will need to get used to logging. Many Thanks

an even better solution would be for you to download the atr software and drive to a dyno shop that is familiar with cobb's stuff and have them do a tune for you on the spot - cobb will want datalog info from the ap in order to make decisons about the adjustments they will make - how much better is it if someone is just sitting there with you and make the decisions in front of you - it's the most expensive to pay for dyno time you will get the best tune

I live in Madison Alabama. To the best of my knowledge there is no one around here I can trust. When we did the 3rd Gen RX-7 we flew a guy in to do it. I would be most appreciative if you knew of someone here that does a really goooood tune.

I am very Leary about bringing my car to a "tuner". A lot of these guys are nothing less than a joke. It is more than science it is also an art. I am not concerned of the cost but of the results. An all weather tune is hard as hell. From winter to summer the air changes..... a lot. A a summer tune is hell on cold dry day . throw in barometric pressure changes and life get really bad. A conservative tune is the way to go for me. I like to tune in the winter for obvious reasons.

hmmmmm...well You could call cobb up and ask em about any tuners they trust in the southeast part of the country you could go to and get your car tuned in the winter,in the mean time you just run your stage 2 offshelf map. Another thing you could do is get ahold of Tim Baily at Surgeline tuning in Portland,Oregon and see if hell make a map for your car when your ready. They are Cobbs biggest tuner..and his reputation is extremly good. He was behind most of creation of the ms3 maps from cobb, and is highly regarded as one of the best tuners in the country and prabaly the best ms3 tuner there is. If there is a answer for you, He would know it...Surgeline is only 2 hours from me so personaly its a obvious choice for me to go to cause im lucky in that regard. But they have tuned some very nice cars..evo 8,9,10's sti's..they have even done some sick work on making the already smoking hot nissan gtr even crazier faster and smoother running..so they know what thier doing for sure. I was down in Portland area week ago and decided to stop by in there and one of the guys showed me some of the ms3's they had tuned on thier dyno-computer and was going through the charts..and they were looking amazing..all the ms3's that were running intake-cobb ap-turboback was running around 290-300 whp and 310-320 tq and with the cobb fmic..those numbers jumped up about 20 hp and 20 tq respectivly..that combined with zero knock..good fuel trims and a car that runs smoother than stock is pretty good to go in my book. Also keep in mind that with all that extra flow your gonna have with the cp-e dp..these cars have a bad stock pcv valve and will end up pulling oil from the crackcase, therefore needed a catchcan installed so you dont have any smoking issues. Anyways thats my imput...im no expert by any means as I learn as I go. This tuning stuff is new to me since i was used to working on older cars where ecu's wasnt running the car like they do now lol. Goodluck youll be fine :)
