Bye Bye clutch...

Well i'm pretty sure my clutch decided to commite suicide last night.

I was driving from my girlfriends house to one of my favorite bars. I pulled up to a stop sign. Put it in first gear, shifted into second and all the sudden all i hear is crunch crunch crunch. So i shift into third gear so see if maybe i missed something. The clutch gripped a little bit if i barely got on the gas.

I immediately attempted to turn around and nurse my car home. pulled into a development and put the car in first gear, and revs like it's in nuetral. Does that with every gear.

I got my pops to tow me back to my house with his truck, and their she sits...waiting to be ripped apart.

Does that sound like a clutch to you guys....and if so what kind of aftermarket should i get?

so how do i go about getting that fixed...how much does it cost.. is it covered under ext warranty.

and how the hell does a LSD just go like that.

yes if you ext warrenty covers drivetrain then yes your diff is covered and look at crossover auto. they have the mazdaspeed diff listed for 440 up there

Yup..Definately the LSD....Dont try messing with it anymore..you might do more damage and trash the tranny itself.

replace it with a welded LSD. it'll never break again.

my extended warranty covered it...thankfully.

should i be on the lookout for a new LSD because this one will prolly break as well?

Ideally, have it welded before it is installed. That prevents most failures.

If they haven't repaired it yet ask to speak to the manager and let him know that you want it welded, if he has someone that can do that or if he can let you take it to get welded. See if you can find a pic of a broken LSD and the welded LSD if it hasn't been repaired of course.

i've got a similar problem except that theres no crunch. very low torque in 1st gear and then in every gear after that after 4000 rpm it just revs as if its in neutral

^ that sounds like abad clutch, and the clutch just isnt holding and is slipping.

i agree... save you the headache in the long run. i am actually in the same boat now. my car is at the dealership now, thank God for extrended warranty
