Bwiggs STF Build

Wooooo! Just got back from a local autox. Got a site back that we haven't had in 2 years. It is only a mile away from my house, which is very nice compared to all our other sites which are 2 hours away.

Last weekend I installed the awr motor mount and I think it was a huge improvement in the feel of the throttle and shifter.

Well today I ended up 2nd PAX! out of 77 cars. Very happy mazda 2 owner here! I will post full results and pictures when I get them.

Gratz!

7/28 PAX Results
Here are the results from last event 7/28.

This past weekend 8/17-8/18 we had a 2 day autocross at Cherry Point NC with my local group NCR-SCCA. Great turnout. I ended up 1st in STF both days. 4th pax /99 on saturday and 13th pax /135 on sunday. Car did great both days and I had a blast.
Will hopefully post some pics soon.

Here are detailed results for those interested.

You should come run at the NCAC (North Carolina Autocross Championship) on Oct 5&6 at ZMax in Charlotte. It will be well worth the drive I promise! We have a good group of STF drivers in CCR. 3 of them are going to nationals in a couple weeks, sadly not me though. We should all be there. Oh, and ZMax is an amazing venue! Hope you can join us!

Get the RB for sure.

Car looks awesome.
Start thinking coilovers if you are serious about STF\
Would not expend money on front bar.

Thanks, yea ill be getting the rb bar soon. Ok so what are my options for competitive suspension on a budget. Could i continue to use the Corksport shocks, with a stiffer lowering spring. Or will I need to start with the ksports like yall have to have the height adjusters?

Competitive locally or Nationally?

Locally CS should be ok.
Nationally Coilovers for sure. Before I went the AST option I had a very good set up enough to bet one of the fastest National drivers in STF at the Blytheville ProSolo.
KSports with 6k springs front / 5k rear springs. Rear RB bar , motor mount. The car was super balanced. BFG Rivals, I would go with 205-50-15's

Yea locally the Corksport setup has been great, and good on the street. I am 1st for Stf points wise and 2nd overall pax for the season. This is still my daily driver, so I want to to keep a nice balance. Didn't you and erv run the ksport with the stock ksport springs for a while? Would that be the next logical step to be more competitive and retain street drivability?

Get the tri point rear sway :) You should call up mazda motorsports and tell them you want the complete coilovers from their b-spec kit. I think he quoted me like $1200 or you could get the bilstein pss kit like I did for $816 shipped from all shock and upgrade the springs down the road. The PSS kit and the b spec coils are the same only difference is the springs.

Coil over shock kit (Bilstein) 0000-04-2201-BL,
Front springs (ERS) 0000-04-9350-07,
Rear springs (ERS) 0000-04-9250-07,
Helper springs F&R 0000-04-9926,
Spring spacerF&R 0000-04-9925,
Front sway bar end links adjstbl 0000-04-2202,
Rear sway bar 0000-04-2203-RR,
Modified strut bearing plate 0000-04-2204,
Crash bolt set 0000-04-2205

My car is also my daily by the way and its been great. I didn't even look at the k sports. I think most people got them because it was all that was out at the time. There are much better shocks out there just take the time to look :)

I'll definitely check those out. I have a Mazdaspeed Motorsports account I think. Sent them autox results a while back.

There is actually a difference in the shocks. The B-Spec bilsteins are re-valved and it is a pretty big difference between the two kits.

Maybe yes maybe no. My Conversation with tri point would say they are the same but I can tell you this. My friend just put a 400 pound front spring on his PSS kit and told me it rode better then stock pss spring. Thats much closer to what the b-spec car has then the spring that comes in the kit. And if the valving is so bad you could always get them re-valved :). If you have the money for the complete b-spec coilover kit then get that. If not getting the PSS for $816 and upgrading if NEEDED is the way to go. Or just buy AST for $2k like a boss ;)

The Mazdaspeed bilsteins are re-valved. When they first started selling the kits they were the off the shelf PSS kit, that was changed later.

It was really weird when they made the change, some racers had purchased the kits then the change came out which upset some people.
