First off, this is my first post, and I hope I am posting this question in the correct place. Please forgive me if there is a more appropriate forum for this question.
I have a 2010 Mazda3 5-door with the Bose/moon roof package.
I recently took my car into the dearler, because I was experiencing a strange clicking sound when my windows were partially down (especially on the passenger side). After a few days of trying to figure out the problem, the dealer advised me that Mazda wanted them to replace the regulator in the passenger window (the driver's side seems to be fine now).
They kept the car two days and apparently had to take the door apart to replace the regulator.
I got the car back when the repairs were complete, and noticed that the sound had gone away. Excellent!
However, I immediately noticed a new problem. I am hearing a buzzing/vibrating noise from my passenger side door area when something is playing on the radio with a very deep/heavy bass. It only happens when I have the volume up very loud and the song has a heavy bass line. It seems to buzz/vibrate loudly with each pulsing of the bass. It's not a pleasant sound, and I know it never made that sound before.
The Bose system usually sounds wonderful, and it allows me to pump the music up really loud and hear a rich bass.
I took it back in to have them look at it. Of course, it wasn't making the sound when the car was in park, so they went on a drive with me. Sure enough, it started to make the the buzzing/vibrating sound. However, both the service manager and the technician told me it is a normal sound. They said because of the size of the speakers, you're going to have that vibration sound when the bass is very heavy. But I know for a fact that it never made that sound before the window repair.
I've had the car for two years, and I would have never tolerated such an irritating sound from my speakers for that long if it were, in fact, "normal".
I asked them if, perhaps, something was loose or not put back together properly when they reassembled my door. It seems like it could be something vibrating inside the door. They insist that there is no way that could happen, because the window would not work properly if there was a bolt or something loose.
The service manager did say that he would contact Mazda and see if they will approve him replacing the speaker. I suppose that will be sufficient for now to at least see if that fixes the problem, but I'm worried that it's not actually the speaker but something vibrating within the door.
I decided that if the speaker replacement doesn't work (or if Mazda won't replace the speaker at all) that I will take it to another Mazda dealer for a second opinion. I just can't bring myself to believe that sound is normal.
Just from what I've described above, does anyone have any idea what might be causing this sound? Is it possible (and just a huge coincidence) that my speaker blew out immediately after picking up my car from the window repair?
I'll be happy to provide any more details anyone might need to help me diagnose this.
