Hello guys and girls! I'm really new Mazdas. I found this website and I'm thrilled to see everybody is so excited about MS3's.
First of all, I live in Birmingham, AL. I have only owned two beat-up cars (i.e. 1991 Nissan Stanza and 2000 Corolla). I'm 18 years old and will be turning 19 soon. I have been an avid reader of car magazines, websites, forums, and other car related stuff. I had yet to touch a real "sporty car" (except for an SE-R Spec V) until I test drove an MS3 today.
I test drove a 2008 MS3 GT and it was badass. I'm actually going to buy a 2008 Silver Sport that dealer received 3 days ago.
Now, I already put down the deposit telling the dealer to hold the car until next week, by which time I'll have gathered up 25k in cash. I told them upfront that I was going to pay in full and I wanted a discount. I tried to negotiate with the dealer but the dealer flat out said they want MSRP of 23k or they won't sell the car. They told me that they can sell it to somebody else easily. These cars are scarce and high in demand and there are only two dealers that carry MS3's around here. Also, these dealers only get them once in every blue moon. When they come, they are gone in less than 2 weeks.
I've read that some of you guys talked dealers down on the price. How did you guys do it?
BTW, this site is awesome!
