Sorry. It's really difficult to set a rheostat for various forums I'm on. I tend to go with whatever is acceptable on regular TV sitcoms for forums like this one.

The warranty makes this look like a very good deal to me.
We bought a Soul Red Mazda3 with about 800 miles from sales staff driving it and it has been great so far.
Will you be getting four free full syn O/F changes like we did?
We have been going 7K miles between changes.

You could but 7500 is what's in the manual, I think.
I do 7K to be safe and have not had them try to upsell me anything after 2 changes in the M3 and 3 in the CX.
They also do a pretty good wash and vac job.
I had Costco do a nitrogen conversion for $11 but Mazda store does the rotations free with O/F.

Thank you to everyone for the helpful advice on buying our first Mazda! We did end up taking the used 2016 Red GT (with Tech and iActivSens packages), and I was able to talk them down to $30,200 out the door, which ended up being a selling price of $28,103 (plus TTL) (listed price that they originally wouldn't budge from was $28,995). The only "extras" that we got were 3 free oil changes. It is a CPO, so it comes with the extended warranties, so I'm happy about that. I think it's an okay deal - not the deal of the century - but we're happy because it's exactly the car that we wanted (and the wife is happy!).

I totally agree. Happy wife = happy life!
By the way, I just had to go take it out for a drive at night. The LED headlights are very very nice! I really love the AFS too - really seemed to help light up the curves! The auto-headlight high-low beam thing works as it should, but it seems like it doesn't dip the lights soon enough - the oncoming drivers are blinded for a split second before the CX-5 dips the lights. Which makes sense since the camera has to "see" their lights before it adjusts. I typically like to dip the lights when I see their headlights shining (like around a hill or curve), so that way they aren't blinded once we already see each other. Oh well, I don't drive much at night, so probably not a feature that would be used too often - and I can always adjust the lights manually too, the old fashioned way. I can't believe all the different settings on the car - you can even control the blinker volume! Crazy!

No, not 5,000, not 7,500, not 10,000 miles on your oil change interval. Reset your Maintenance Monitor app to "Flexible" for "Oil Change" according to Schedule 1 Flexible OCI which can go up to 10,000 miles or 12 months. Check your Owner's Manual for details.
Free oil change from Mazda dealers mean they'd use the cheapest bulk oil they can find! Ask for Mazda moly oil available at least in parts department and expect to pay $10 extra for each oil change. Have you found out when was the last oil change on your CX-5?
Yeah, this "Preferred Choice" oil is what my Mazda dealer uses for free oil change!
That's really good advice, thanks! I'll look into the flexible oil change schedule. The service adviser at the dealership set up the maintenance reminders in the car for us when she was walking us through all the features and stuff.

They also changed air and cabin filters, wiper blades, and rotated the tires, as well as check all the other systems (battery, tires, emissions, etc.). So I'm guessing that I should probably go in 5000 miles from now and get the moly oil change.

Notice you did not mention the "$2,800ish" in AWD drivetrain repairs because you went with AWD.
BTW, Consumer Reports owner survey rates the 2015 CX drivetrain (which includes AWD components) as 'excellent.'
That's also probably one of the reasons you don't seem to be able to match the MPG other owners experience.
Perhaps revisit your opinion that AWD is the way to go.

I'd gladly go awd again. The vehicles mileage has not changed since I got it, either before or after the replacement diff.
Gotta agree. If I'm buying an SUV, I'm getting awd no question about it. Or else, I would just buy the Mazda 6 or quite frankly any other FWD sedan that gets better gas mileage. I honestly never understood why people buy SUVs that aren't awd. I can see a few reasons, you live in area that never gets snow at all. But then again why not just get a sedan that gets better gas mileage and is quicker. Next point, you have to haul stuff. I can appreciate that in that case but it's probably rare.
But awd isn't just for snow at all. Many many other advantages that awd offers over FWD. The couple hundred dollars I would save a year in gas if I went with fwd isn't worth it to lose awd.
Because I fit better, and am much more comfortable in the seating / driving position of a SUV.
