Yeah, good call TX. The pictures were not theirs and they fixed it. They went out of the way to post and clear it up. Time for food!

What explanation would you like TXMazdaSpeeder? Read our auction descriptions on our emails for all the technical information pertaining to our intake systems. On Chris's car we bypassed the IAT sensor by implementing a 8100 ohm 1/2 watt resistor to give a constant low temperature reading to the ECU. On the kits we sell on eBay we integrate a fitting into the rubber coupling to accomodate the IAT sensor. Some of our intake applications use chrome plated aluminum tubing, others used poslished T-304 stainless steel, and others we use polished aluminum tubing depending upon demand. I have received nothing but negativity and criticism before I even made a post on this board. No one here at DivizionOne Autowerkes is scamming anyone.
the explanation i would like is what you just now gave me, thank you. i have no further questions other than a dyno graph might be useful. And you might inform your customers that bypassing the IAT sensor will void the factory warranty on the vehicle.

There's no need to compare our kit with Revzo's because we haven't updated our listings with the new complete kit. Also, I don't believe they offer a lifetime warranty on their parts. Their kit is generic. We can buy and sell those just as cheap but we rather make improvements or design a product of our own.

ok, so the IAT sensor is now constantly reading cold air. this means it's (the ECU) constantly thinking it's running really lean (colder air, denser air, more oxygen), so now it (the ECU) DUMPS EVEN MORE fuel into the A/F mix! this compounds the problem of an ECU that is prone to running overly rich as is.

This is almost as bad as someone selling an intake made out of PVC (lol2) I feel sorry for those who buy this but I guess it's a free country what are you going to do as long as we protect our own and as much other newbies as we possibly can. Oh and again we go with resistors so are you also going to come out with a magical chip for $25-$30 that will give us 35hp and a plastic turbo for $50 that will give me 100hp.

The sale of those resistors as "chips" for $25 to $30 is truly ridiculous. We used to offer those free with every intake purchase but we couldn't keep up with the demand. You'd be surprised how many people wanted those "chips". Again, as far as the resistor is concerned, there is a fitting implemented into one of the couplings for the IAT sensor but in the early developmental stages of the intake extension we created, we bypassed it. Subghetto what is with all the hostility man?

there was 3 cases of proteges with the "chip" in it at the dealership i work behind this year that i know of. All 3 had the same problems and all three were fine when the chip was discovered and pulled out. The first guy that went in though spent a ton of money on diagnosing it, the 2nd 2 got lucky because they looked for it right away.
Just what ive seen happen with the ebay "chip"

yeah its not good to "trick" the ecu, things can go haywire

Thanks for the info. If you use the wrong ohm resistor you can have MAJOR problems. So far so good with Chris's Protege though...

I'am personally not worried because I know what I'am doing, I just get pissed off that the newbies or those who are less knowlegdable and mechanically inclined end up buying one of those "ebay" chips that advertise 20hp proven and then their A/F ratio goes to hell their engine ***** up and so does their warranty and they have to pay like $500+ for repairs. A member dynoed his car with the chip and it actually made him lose power so why the hostality?
(uhm) I wonder why?

the problem with the chips here was that they were messing up the fuel systems and the evap system and wouldnt let you refill the car with fuel because it alway made the pump think the car was full of gas.

Ok Subghetto, that's understandable. It just seemed like all the hostility was directed towards me. Well it was nice chatting with you guys. I'll tell Chris about this forum. I'm sure he'll find a lot of useful information here. I'm a BMW enthusiast myself. Later...

I'm going to meet up with Chris and we'll take pictures of the headlights
on
his car and relist the item on eBay, then maybe you'll stop talking s***.

i guess watching out for people from getting ripped off of $250 makes me have no life and means that i am talking s***. oh well.

tonka, u da man!
wow dude, awesome work......u should have been an investigator or something.......krazy.........

this DivizionOne company/ppl<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_1029799", true); </SCRIPT> might not sell real hi-q products and maybe they're pretty messed up with displaying their products and didn't wanna admit it..."buyers beware" was the topic... well, beware of what exactly? wrong pics ? mediocre quality ? high prices ?

DivizionOne seems like a pretty common ebayseller in any way... and as long as potential buyers aren't getting defrauded i don't see any reason why your vocabulary and behaviour is the one of an inquisition tribunal....

you seem a little out of equilibrium

when a company sells products for our car, it's common place that the prices are high. the car has limited products available. but the fact that he LIED about the picture on the auction being the EXACT same headlight as what is being offered makes one question their integrity. he called that car his webmaster's car. he knows what the webmaster's car looks like. in fact, he even had the pics of the webmaster's car on his computer and sent them to me in a followup email. how does one go from having a white car to a blue car. read the emails.

if you want to buy from a company that claims products to be their own that are in fact NOT, then go for it. i'm just watching out for the people who have just got into the protege line of cars and might not know any better. the lights RETAIL for $160. they were trying to RIP PEOPLE OFF.

here's a brief summary for you:

1. claiming that corksport's image of a BLUE protege5's headlights is what the customer is getting.
2. saying that the car is actually the webmaster's car, when in fact, the webmaster has a WHITE car. he knew that the webmaster's car is white. he also knew that the picture in the auction was NOT that of the webmaster's car. he still stuck by his guns and told a potential buyer that the product is the same as the picture. (it is not)
3. RETAIL price on the headlights are $160. his auction was set for $250. if that's not ripping people off, then what is?
4. none of his responses directly answered any of the questions about questionable business tactics, but instead, diverted attention away from the questions in a very roundabout way.

again, if you want to do business with them, go right ahead. but buyers beware! we have other vendors on this site who would not go ripping off people by charging almost $100 over LIST PRICE. the choice is yours. i'm just raising the caution flag.

I think it was a simple mistake, give the man a break, and welcome another distributor or Protege parts into the forum. He knows now to take pictures of the ACTUAL product before listing it, or using a disclaimer and ask permission to use another persons picture. Sometimes actual pictures arent available.
