I have a chance to get a great deal on a turbo, but I'm worried about the transmision. I have the auto sport, does any one know where I could find a tranny that could handle the extra power?

umm look under your hood ................. that tranny will hold added power how much i dont think has been determined yet but there are some members on this forum wit turbo on their auto's and no problems yet.

search bullitproof tranny here or on yahoo for company site. You can buy torque convertors, and other components. They are your best bet cause some people have had problems with the sport shift tranny. Realize that the more power u have the more stress on the tranny, which is really just an economy car tranny, nothin special. Mine might be already slippin and i only have maybe 150@engine, 110 whp. Another idea, which i want to do, is get a mobil 1 tranny flush...best s*** out there plus maybe some Redline ATF fluid. U might be good with that actually.

Remember, even a larger/better tq converter won't add strength...If you MUST add power, consider trading for a 5sp. If that's not an option, consider N2O.

Yeah, I've got the same tranny. I've found that around 7 psi, the tranny won't shift correctly. The rev's are coming up way too fast. When the tranny goes to shift, the revs are too high for the tranny to engage the gear. I've only done it a few times, and the second I could tell it wasn't going into gear, I backed off the throttle. To be safe, I try to keep it around 5psi, or I switch to the Sport Mode and back off the throttle for a split second, shift, then get back on the throttle.

I am adding my tranny cooler sometime next week, and switching to a better tranny fluid. I'm also looking at www.levelten.com for their Valve Body recalibration. Although I've also been considering hollding out for the full tranny swap.
