bulb conversions

I was looking to switch my headlight bulbs and I don't know whether to convert to the HID kit or just buy some PIAA bulbs that I found online. Just as a test I bought some junk 20$ bulbs to see how they would look but the bulb on its own does not have the power. Now I dont know if the PIAA bulbs will need some kinda of converter as well so that is why im asking which route I should take. Also I was considering changing the fog light bulbs to yellow but cant seem to figure out how to change the bulbs unless I take the bumper off so I was thinking of some sort of yellow lens I could just attach on if anyone knows where I can get some of those. THanks

5000K HID is where it's at. PM Protephile, he used to sell TechONE HID kits for around $100. Maybe he still has some.

I've had mine in the P5 for 2 years now, and I had a ballast go out about a year ago. Protephile replaced it for free.

Before that, I went through Sylvania halogens every couple months. HID looks a lot better too, 5000K is super bright but I haven't been flashed even once for them being TOO bright.

wen u installed ur hids, did u have to aim ur headlights down lower?

itImazdamp3 I just sent you a pm. I just order a conversion kit for my car. I think they are going to be to bright for the street. has anyone ever seen a 55watt kit with 8000k bulbs?

The 55 watt kits are all pretty bright, the 8000K is just gonna make it have more of a blue tone. If you want brightness, 5000-6000K is the way to go.

As for having to aim the lights, yes I did need to aim them down. It's really easy though, it's just a small screw that you adjust.

I know how the hid bulbs work. What i'm trying to say is that sometimes when your driving down the road at night oncoming traffic asumes that you have your brights on because of the color of your bulbs.

And I'm saying that 30 watt 5000K is the way to go to prevent that. I've had mine for 2 years and haven't been flashed even once. You just have to aim them down a little bit.

I'll vouch for protephile's rep too. I had a bulb go out on mine about 3 weeks after my 1 year warranty was up. He sent me a brand new pair of bulbs, and I sent him the old ones back, only cost was to ship the old ones back. Haven't had a problem with the replacements and I'm at 1 year on these.

Also, I originally went with the 5000, then switched to 6000. The 5k bulbs were just a little too white for my taste. I aimed the headlights to where I wanted them, then slowly moved them down til people stopped flashing me.
