Broken front bumper-thing.

Hey all,

I accidentally drove forward onto a 'curb-and-a-half' type parking garage support because I didn't see it. It cracked the lowest part of my front spoiler/bumper thing. The worst part is that it separated it from the front right fender. It juts out from the bodywork in an unflattering way. If I had epoxy sort of experience and one of the fasteners, I could make it look 'getto-alright' but I'm actually thinking about replacing it - thing is that the bodyshop I talked to quoted me $1k-$1.2k and that just seems silly for a STOCK part. I was thinking maybe as long as I'm having to do repainting, maybe there was a classy yet distinctive third-party replacement piece available.

Also, the left rear door is dented. Can those actually be pulled all the way out or do I need to replace something? It's been a rough six months with my car, but I still love the snot out of it.

Sorry to hear about the damage. Try a mazda dealer for a new or used bumper.

As long as the dent on the door isn't in a crease you may have some luck banging it out from the other side. I hear dry ice can be used to pop a dent out but haven't tried it myself.

Yeah I saw that dry-ice trick on youtube, looks pretty interesting.

Zip ties. Make it look dorifito/JDizzleMizzle tyte. Who cares if its a front driver.

dents can be pulled and filled! but then u have to paint it. u can try and pop it out from behind just be careful to to go to far then u will have a high spot instead of a low spot that usually looks worse! a body shop will pull it a little closer to original and then fill it. and send it to paint

the bumper be a lil different u might have cracked it the shield can hide that stuff. a few things could have happened under there

im jsut a body man tho

Took this from www.protegegarage.com

$1,100 all said and done

HA!!! I doubt that. Nothing against ken... but the Autoexe bumper alone is around a grand just by itself. That was the quote I got, 710 for the bumper & around 300 for freight from japan. And its gonna take around 2 months to get the thing. I myself got into a wreck to and destroyed the front bumper. I was gonna go that route too but decided not to. The stock bumper is 409.00 by itself. That was what I was quoted from the body shop not including installation or paint. Paint for the bumper should be around 150.00 for the bumper.. I think.

painter gets 3 hour to paint a bumper
mds rate is 40 an hour then u have paint materials thats 24/hr per refinish hour!

so it would cost bout 200 in paint labor a lone! in md of course! la is probley gona be a different story
