thought id start a fun thread to complain to all my mazda 3 brothers and sisters out there that i cannot wait til i break 1000 so i can start driving moderately harder! AHhhhhhhhhh, it has so much potential around corners that i want to take advantage of but not yet....still have to drive it like a b**** for 700 more miles...

take a long trip somewhere. consistant speeds and miles for the first 1k will help a bunch. make sure to change out the "prep" oil to something much better after 1k. I use Mobil1 in everything and have always gotten WAAAAAY over 250K out of each vehicle and have never had to open up any of the engines for anything. Regular maintenance is a must of course. because of this I am averaging almost 40mpg in my 2007 mazda3 5door. Only on long trips not around town

break-in

you dont want to stay on a constent speed. on freeway speeds hit 70 to 75, then back to 65, every 10 to 15 mins. it good for the engine cause your breaking-in the torqueage and milage. make sure u change the oli at 2000 miles and no higher. then u can go for every 3000 after that

Umm, yeah. For the break in period you want to not maintain constant speeds and rpms.

Why not hit the curves and just keep the RPM's low? I don't see why you have to drive it like a beezay until you can rip on the engine....rip on the suspension until then.

Not what I did but it's a suggestion.
