well i knew it was comming, today i was racing around with my boys new STI, and when comming to a stop i hear a loud screetching sound.. now everytime i brake they squeel...

Im gonna order some pads and rotors tomorrow, i have been putting this off for a while, now i need them and probally wont have them to next week:mad:

as of now im gonna get powerslot rotors and hawk brake pads.

I got some more work b4 i can hang with his STI ( if ever), i was alright for a little then he just started to pull on me.. he was surprise how quick my car was:D

yeah Paul, you have been talking about needing new brakes since I joined this board ;) ... No big deal though. I put mine off until there was about a 1/16" of pad material left on the fronts (about 1,000 miles after they started squeeking), and it took longer to stop then most FedEx trucks...

Nice keeping up with the STi for a while...A friend of mine at school bought one, we tried a 10mph rolling start in first gear...I kept up with him until about 17mph, and then by 60mph he was too far away to reconginze what kind of car it was...At least we know more or less stock protege's can keep up with a STi during rolling starts for about 5mph:eek:

The STI was amazing, i want one... the brakes are huge.. and it has electronic differentials.. i think it runs 14psi stock.. did i mention the seats..

There are so many choices of brakes I dont know which ones to buy. im gonna get some motul 600 and posibly ss lines also.

If anyone has prefrenece on rotors and brakes inform me, as of now my choices are power slot, rotora, KVR there are also at least 3 companies that offer performance pads also...

Yo Paul. I have slotted rotors in stock for your ride. I'll hook you up. They are better coated than the powerslots.

You can always get pads separately from tire rack or we can get them for you. I do have porterfields in stock.

Let me know,

Rishie

I probally would get a bbk now, but i have 15" winter wheels. plus i dont really got the lute.

ARD i will call you tomorrow on my lunch brake, i like that they are "instock". i need these soon. how long does it usually take to ship to Pa.

If i goto the track tomorrow, can i damage anything by the screetching noise... I have been wanting to go for a while, and some friends might be going tomorrow????

how do the portifields compare to the hawk hps? i never heard anyone that had them besides moose.

All of tire racks brake rotors are of OE quality or better...so they will all be high quality...

I used EBC rotors on my old car...I didn't like the gold at first either, but it grew on me...They worked great and lasted longer than the car, just make sure they are installed properly (have to be very careful when the rotor is first installed, the hub's surface needs to be scrubbed and cleaned with alcohol very dilegently in order for the rotor not to get "run-out", which is pretty much the same thing as warping...this is true for all brake rotors)...The gold is some kind of cadmium nickel plating or something from what I remember...The rotor portion that is "scrubbed" by the brake pads will begin to look more like standard iron rotors after a few hundred miles (the plating wears off)...The plating is only to prevent rust on the inner vented portion of the rotor, and on the wheel hub area...It worked great and even though it is gold it looks much better than rust IMO...

all of the plated rotors I have used that are still silver still rusted...These were the only I have ever used that didn't rust...I had Powerslot silver plated rotors on an old Neon years ago, that claimed the same thing, but rusted noticably after 6 months...

someone on here has powerslots and i noticed they were rusted. If they came in silver cadium i'd consider it, but i couldnt put gold on my mp3. it wouldnt look right.

You won't damage anything that won't be replaced...The pads start to squeek as a precaution to warn you that not much life is left, not that they are unusable anymore...In a worst case you would wear the pads down to the metal back plates, and ruin your current rotors...but if they just started squeeling you will be fine...Performance will not be the best, but you can still get by on a track once or twice...

But also why are you getting new rotors? what is the mileage of your car? The rotors will easily last upwards of 60,000 miles of normal driving...They just need shaved every pad change...If you are considering using your current rotors after the pad change, ignore the latter paragraph...

Im ordering my hawk pads and whoever calls me back first with rotors in stock, i cant even drive the car, it sounds like a POS.

btw i got almost 39000 out of the stock pads.. not too shabby

Not at all...Mine were 100% unusable by 36,000 miles, and I by no means am capable of the speeds you are...

Alright well the Slotted rotors we have will not generate that rust around the hub/pad part of the rotor due to their black finish in that area along with being e-coated.

The price is $315.00 shipped for the slotted rotors via paypal. I can get you Porterfield pads for both front and rear. No mixing of brands necessary.

Let me know,

Rishie

I only have three sets remaining of the rotors. Can ship same day if payment is received before 12pm.
