BPV replacement

So I'll take a stab at this again then har..

It seems that my stock bpv doesn't hold boost well and/or is leaking. Gives me an excuse to go aftermarket then! But I'm curious if anything out there retains the stock sound or somewhere close to it's original sound. Browsing through threads (and other forums), it seems that the popular ones from Forge, HKS and Turbosmart all make obnoxious noises, despite the stickied faq stating otherwise. Videos on youtube only confirmed my fears of people with no mods other then a bpv. Last thing I want is to attract the attention of the local PD. Or chavs. I've only read sparse reviews of Forge's v2 BPV, but it seems that it's my only alternative. Is this my only choice I have if I want to retain the stocker sound?

the new turbosmart seems to be really quite, ive heard a couple videos on youtube and it sounds just like stock. no ping or phhhssst

Yea the new turbosmart recirc valve sounds like the stocker. The HKS recirc also sounds stockish.

Really the only obnovious valves are the actuall BOV (vta valves) and the forge. All of the other ones seem to sound like the stocker in bpv mode.

hmm... I'm interested in hearing what that new forge sounds like.

Interesting. Thanks for all the input so far. It seems that another potential issue I have is with the upkeep on these things. Would I be correct to assume that no matter which one I end up getting, there will be maintenance required as well?

Yup, at least with the original Forge. I think somewhere there's a How To. I just put a light coat of Mobil 1 Synthetic grease on the plunger and the "O" rings. Check it when changing oil or at least once a year.
I have the regular Forge, so if I hear it, I figure it's working. I actually like the sound.

my PG type S bpv sounds like a short sneeze. just the cheeew part without the HA. i think it sounds like stock or maybe i havent heard the stock in a while but its not crazy loud or anything

Even after I went with the Forge BPV, I almost never heard until I installed the Cobb SRI, and now it's impossible to miss. With the stock airbox in place, I had to turn off the stereo, roll down the windows and listen for it if I wanted to hear it.

Like you, I originally started looking at BPV's purely because my Dashhawk told me I wasn't reaching full boost. Forge fixed that.

HKS in recirc is very quiet. and i cant wait to put mine back into recirc cause VTA daily driven gives you headaches.
