bov,what can i do?

well yes, you can vent to atmosphere with a greddy type s or hks ssqv. with the hks ssqv, you gotta learn how to drive around the stalling problem (i'm not sure if you can adjust the spring). the greddy, you have to tighten it a lot to keep it from stalling. two problems with that: 1) you won't get that nice psshhhhhh sound cause it's too tight. 2) it pretty much defeats the purpose of having a bov.

for our engine setup, it's best to recirculate to keep the stock ecu from getting confused. hey, at least your call will run right without stalling. and you will have to purchase additional parts. if you have hard piping, you'll just need to purchase a flange. if you have the stock plastic piping, there are two options. get a small section of hard piping and weld a flange on to it. then cut a section out of the plastic piping, put the hard piping section in place of it, and get some silicone connection hoses. or, atp tuning makes a flange for the greddy type s and hks ssqv. this flange bolts onto the inlet of the bov and has a 1" inlet where you just run a hose to. so there's no cutting involved which means your warranty is safe. now here's the interesting part. that nipple that comes off the intercooler piping where the stock bpv is, is something like 3/4". so you'll have to buy two sections of tubing, one 1" and one 3/4". all you have to do is just slip one over the other, run the 3/4" from the intercooler piping and the 1" to the bov. get a recirculating kit for the bov (they are available for both) and you're done. this is the setup chojin (shawn) is using on his 3.5 msp (except he's venting to atm rather than recirculating) and the setup i plan to use in the future.

hahaha, you like? that would be kyoko fukada. i have waaay too many pics of her :D and she's 20 too.....damn it i need to move to japan and learn how to speak japanese and meet this singer/actress/model.....damn it mom and dad, why didn't you teach me japanese?????

ATP FLANGE

STRIKER187 THANKS FOR THE SUGESTION ON GETTING THE FLANGE. I JUST ORDERED IT $43.00 SHIPPED. AND I HAVE AN IDEA OF HOW TO EITHER BLOW OFF INTO ATM. OR RECIRC. I THINK I WILL PROBABLY RECIRC, OR TRY ONE THAN THE OTHER.

THANKS U DA MAN :D

So bascially this is what you would need to run an HKS SSQV? Correct me if I missed anything?

HKS SSQV UNIVERSAL MOUNTING PIPE: 50mm DIA X 150mm L

--Universal 50mm diameter steel piping with pre-welded SSQV flange for custom installation of SSQV and Racing BOV II units. 150mm in length , the universal pipe allows for ease in integration or replacement of factory piping.

HKS SSQV RECIRCULATION FITTING
hks-sqrf.gif

--HKS SSQV Re-Circulation Fitting inserts enable the SSQV to reroute discharged compressed air back into the intake stream to create a closed loop system to prevent bogging / stumbling of rich air/fuel ratio conditions in mass-air sensor equipped vehicles.

HKS SUPER SEQUENTIAL BLOW-OFF VALVE: UNIVERSAL
HKS-SSQV.GIF

--The Super Sequential Blow-Off Valve (SSQV) is a pull type relief valve. The SSQV is actuated by pressure alterations only, ensuring quick valve response and complete closure during idle. Typical blow-off valves utilize large valves in order to accommodate high boost/high hp applications. However, these large valves react slowly and require high activation pressure to open. Smaller, fast reacting valves, do not permit the air flow required for high horsepower. The SSQV incorporates both for maximum performance. It is engineered utilizing a small primary valve and a secondary valve for additional relief capacity. The SSQV is made of billet aluminum and emits a unique aggressive sound.

or just buy a hks made for a rx7

and what it comes with everything? What years rx-7, they split it up between 87-91, and 93-96? Although buying it for the rx7 is slightly more expensive then buying the three items i listed.

only thing i went to open vent cuz i have no problems stalling. just cap off the intake side. and it sounds better than recirc. u have to have an open element to hear it better with it on recirc.

he installed, teh BOV, with the recirc adapter, and the piping to connect it to the IC piping, and the intake piping. good lookin setup, what was the cost on it all? and can you make a sound clip?

When I go to Chicago in 3 weeks I will be fitting the HKS on dexter's car and when I fit it, I will be able to see you guys a complete kit for somewhere between $265 and $285

www.blowoffvalves.com has a recording of a celica running the hks ssqv without the fin insert, which is what makes the recognizable hks whistle. point is, if you run the recirculating kit, you'll have to remove the fin insert so you'll end up sounding pretty much like the celica does. it's basically a loud puff of air....sort of like a loud blitz ss. hks kinda neglects that in their description, prolly cause they know it doesn't sound like should. cause i was excited when i learned that atp made a flange for the hks.....and then i learned that sacrifices must be made....too much of a sacrifice in my opition.

Any bypass or recirculating BPV ounds like s*** in my opinion. I'f you are really looking for sound the only thing you have to worry about on an atmospheric BOV is that the valve fully closes at idle. Alot of them leak small amounts of air at idle. There really isnt anything wrong with running an atmospheric BOV. Again, just get something that doesnt leak under idle. I'm running an HKS SSQV with the flange and it sounds awesome, especially at 18 psi.
