i was taking a walk in the park and... long story short, i want my BOV to sound like a pigeon.

After asking around, people said that combined with an fmic, any blow off valve can make a sequential blow off. What im trying to find is the certain BOV that made that sound. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_QXTWPonO8 0:19-0:22 that sound is gonna haunt me until i get my msp to make it, some people commented saying he had removed his BOV entirely, do u think thats the case?

Get an injen cold air intake with stock BPV...it will sound just like that at low boost

i could be wrong, but from what i understand that sound is compressor surge. you dont actually want your car to make that sound as there is potential damage that can be caused to the turbo.

Yeah, that's definitely not a good thing to have your car sounding like. Unless you want to replace your turbo every few months.

^It's not that big of an issue on a ball bearing turbo... Granted, it can't be good for it, but compressor surge is much, much worse for a journal bearing turbo.

So I absolutely love my turkey. I bought my car with 30k on it and an Injen already installed in 2006. I've been driving it for six years and learning every step of the way but I've acteally been careful not to kill my turkey, because nothing brings a bigger smile to my face than making pedestrians or driver's with their windows down flip their s***. Parking garages are like heaven.

I know it isn't good for the turbo, I've done more research than Sagan did for Contact, but it's held up for 80k without a hitch. I reduced the "jerk" significantly by moving the boost source for the WGA to just off the compressor and I think that has helped drivability more than any mod ever could.

I will eventually move my boost release to the HKS I had welded to my cold pipe, but it will be a very sad day when my turkey dies.

i do indeed have a turkey just no the pitch i fell in love with in that video. when i bought my msp it had an injen CAI so it has a turkey with stock wastegate but im planning to install a BOV soon and i was hoping to find a way to keep my turkey sound. right now i dont believe my turkey sound is a compressor surge my car has been running smoothly since i got it 4 months ago, and who knows how long the guy before me had the CAI

dude, the guy in that video used to be on the forum. The only reason his car sounded like that is because he had just installed the fmic and did not have a bov installed yet. A majority of the forum usually tries to get away from that sound. Why are you doing the opposite? There is no performance gain and it definitely does not sound pleasing. By the way, you can't make any bov do a "sequential blow off". I think you may not understand the purpose behind the HKS SSQV. It's called a sequential bov because it has basically two valves. A small valve that opens up for low boost or light throttle release and the entire diaphragm opens up for high boost release. If you have someone with a HKS bov on their car. Have them rev it up a little bit and then rev it up all the way and watch the bov. Then, you will see how the sequential operation works. Two valves work in "sequence" depending on how much boost is being used. Just because a car makes that particular sound does not mean the car has a HKS SSQV on it. A buddy of mine used to have a boosted p5 that made that sound and he was just using a miata bpv I think. It's not the valve that makes the sound, it's simply how much pressure is being released and in some cases, the design of the intake. The intake tube can amplify the sound as well. If you have an aftermarket intake on the car and you get the "turkey". Take your intake off and drive around and you will notice almost all of the turkey will go away. You will still have a slight flutter as you took the amplifier(intake) out of the loop. If you simply think the bov is the source of the sound, you have a lot to learn

Mine sounded like that for quite awhile. Turned out i have a nice vacuum leak right near my bov. Fixed it got a better pull of the turbo once i fixed it and in my opinion a much better sound to hear it spool and the just release all in one go, instead of gobble gobble gobble
