what do u guys think of a Greddy type-rs?
BOV of choice for guys running the stock nipple for the BOV

I had one on my car for a lil bit, was getting turkey with it and it was on the car when i bought and i dont like to keep stuff on my car from the previous owner. So i picked up an HKS cause they are cheap. I like the way they sound.
I ran a Turbo XS Type S on mine most of the time, worked prettyy well. Crisp "pssht" (no gobbles, chirps, just vented air), no leak at idle, etc, etc.
I found it on eBay for like $50, and it had an adapter w/it that slide right into the silicone hose provided with my kit.
BOV (they are silver now)

i kinda think i may go with a Greddy type-rs. the little bit of a turkey sounds kind of cool and they are still pretty loud. how loud do you guys think the Greddy will be compared to the TurboXS?

not that loud imo, when i had mine on my car it was nice sounding for sure but not that loud at all, and you dont want turkey haha. Its the devil lol.
From all the boosted cars i have seen and heard it seems that no matter what the protege just has trouble to get a loud BOV. Not sure if that makes sense to some of you guys. But it just seem harder for us to get a really loud sound. Now im sure when we are running 15psi its loud but with most of us at 10 and under its just not enough. it seems for our cars just dont respond well to BOV. VW, srt-4, and speed3 are all loud as s*** when you rev them, but not the protege lol.

Im pretty sure it is like you said, we run very low boost on these cars compared to most other turbo charged cars. It makes sense, the more boost you run, the more air that is in the pipes, which means more air coming out of the bov, which means a louder sound.
I dunno man, my BOV @ 10ish psi was enough to snap heads

i mean the HKS i have is loud but its not that loud if you know what i mean, i dunno lol its hard to explain. I mean i was rocking 10-11psi with the 28rs and ya i turned heads like your saying but it just wasnt loud enough for me, hopefully with combo of my motor, your amazing fmic, and the new bov it will be loud as s***.
I have an HKS BOV with a purple insert in it and i really have rev it to get the BOV to hit, speed3 just barely touches it and its loud as s***

man all this talk is making me wana get a turboXS lol. i was just about to get a Greddy type-rs cuz i already bought the mounting flange but after this thread im leaning towards a turboXS lol.

This thread makes me happy. I had been looking for a good comparison on BOV's (particularly greddy rs, turboxs rfl/h, and hks ssqv) because thats what metallic36's kit supports! Thanks for all the info guys and gals!(silly)
