BOV/BPV - Vacuum Line Question

Here's my problem, I installed the hardpipes using the stock BPV and the GReddy type-s open vent. I tapped the stock BPV hose, so I am running both the GReddy and the stock valve from the stock source. Now when I rev it or put it in neutral, the car stalls...I am thinking not enough vaccum to run both??? I am going to tighten the Greddy adjusting screw...and reset the battery.

If that doesn't work...is there any other options besides tapping the brake line? I just hate for the dealer to see that if I ever have to take it in.

Look at my pictures in the previous pages ... they show you another tap location that is easy to replace the factory hose so that the dealer will never know.

Read the walkthrough on adjusting a type-s. You might be able to adjust it and have it run perfect. I will be putting my hardpipes on this week and running just a type-s without the stock BPV. I will have a How-to as well as post my findings on how this setup works.

In the event that i cant get it to run right I'm gonna have two nipples added on and drop the stock BPV back on....

but i think it will work with just the type-s and some TLC.

I dunno, I adjusted the Greddy, and it still stalled at every light, lol. But goodluck and I hope you get it to work.

Thanks guys for the info, I think I will first try that other vaccum source, but if that doesn't work, I will splice the brake line.

One more question, that hard piece in the booster line...anyone know for sure what it does? I think I found a hose that is close to the stock brake booster line. So I can cut up this new one, and leave the stock one off, so I dont have to cut up the O.E. one. But obviously this hose wont have that little plastic piece in it. Hmmm (braindead

Dont replace the hose ... from my understanding its a valve that only allows the pressure to flow one way ... i dont think i would want to fck it up ... if ya know what im sayin.

Just do like i did ... and measure about 1.5 inches from the lump and use a razor blade to cut through the hose, put in your adapter and hose clamp it.

Yeah ok, I think I can handle that. And if I ever need to turn it back to stock, the worst case is I order another brake hose from the dealer. (yes)

Or you could just get any piece of 3/16 or 3/32 (not sure which one) vacuum line and replace it yourself ... it has no markings on it... so they would never know.

Oh, yeah I was talking about the brake booster hose...the larger one. I'm not worried about that small hose you were talking about, I can use regular hose like you said.

But yeah, I spliced the small line you showed in your picture. I LOVE the whistle :) The car still wants to bog down though when putting the car into neutral. Its not stalling anymore thank God...but still not the same. Maybe I'll have to use the brake line. (nervous) I will get the tee assortment today.

My Greddy got a lot louder after i used a stronger vacuum for the BOV and ran a dedicated line to the wategate.

Any stalling or bogging using the brake booster line?

None ...but you will have to play with the greddy until your car goes down to about 400-800 rpm and then bounces back up.

Thanks again for the help guys...here's a pic. Not pretty, but it will work for now while I am still testing it. Look right? lol

Yep ... thats it. The next way is the brake booster line ... if you dare.

HAHA.

Like i said before, there are tons of people that are running the type-s alone(vented). You can get it to work simply by spending some time on adjusting the screw on the top of the BOV. I'm still waiting for my pipes and i havent decided whether or not im gonna recirculate it or not. Apparently you get the same PSSSSST sound even if it's recirculated. And i think since our cars were designed to recirculate we might want to do so.

Kyracefan and some others have had great results venting, it's still up in the air for me. If you are having problems stalling...go buy some tube that fits over the BOV, route it to your intake (have a local shop put a nipple on it for ya) and you will solve that problem.
