BOV and a BPV ?

So after the gf picked this car up I noticed the greddy bov however I also noticed a bypass/diverter valve also hooked up but to the Injen intake pipe for the turbo that connects to something else...never seen anything like it i will post pics when I can (uhm)

might be bacause he had surge causing the turkey sound. i believe some people run a BOV and a BPV to eliminate the sound.

the MAF i believe is on the intake and not the intercooler piping...which Ive always seen turbo cars with a blow thru MAF and not a suck through...idk i guess it is what it is

I can not really understand that first post but, First welcome to the mazda community. Now It kinda sounds like that you are running a Dual valve set up. There are a few ways to run a BOV on a msp, one is relocated the MAF from the intake side to the sold side and run the set up like this.

Intercooler-bov-maf-throttle body. This set up is called the relocated set up.

and then there is the dual valve set up.

its where the stock BPV is in the same spot and all you do it weld on a BOV flange and leave everything stock.

yeah the way my car is Turbo blowing into > intercooler then to > maf > BOV > throttle body

her car is

intake > maf > bpv line to air intake pipe on turbo > turbo > intercooler > bov > throttle body

the reason why the maf doesn't affect stalling when blowing off on the stock msp setup is because the stock msp setup recirculates...if you run a VTA setup with the maf on the inlet pipe you WILL stall coming out of boost straight down to idle, period

if you place the maf on the pressure side before the bov and VTA, you will stall coming out of boost straight down to idle...period

if you place the maf on the pressure side after the bov and VTA, you will not stall coming out of boost straight down to idle

this is from personal experience with several bovs and keeping the maf both in the stock location, before the bov on the pressure side, and after...as well as using several different intercooling piping routes, and with oem msp piping....using a second gen HKS SSQV, a GReddy, a bosch bypass valve, and a TurboXS VTA only bov...you will stall coming out of boost straight down to idle if you vent to atmosphere any air after the MAF has read how much air is flowing into the motor because the motor will choke itself out with fuel as it is compensating for X amount of airflow and only actually receiving a portion of that amount of airflow

on the note of bov placement to determine whether or not the coldpipe or hotpipe is ideal...it doesn't matter if you are wasting cold air or not because the only use of colder/denser air is for performance gains, which is not an issue when you are releasing pressure in the pipes (i.e. not on the throttle)

what IS an issue is how quickly you are able to relieve pressure in the pipes to avoid compressor surge...now on our setup at under 10psi it doesn't really make any difference which pipe you are running your bov on, however if you have the choice between the two the rule of thumb is to place your bov on the coldpipe...this being that colder air is denser air, and as such you are able to relieve pressure in the intercooler piping faster with denser air...but again, this isn't really going to make any difference at such a small about of CFM of airflow that a t25 produces

not srue if this helps at all. dont know what the point of a bpv on the turbo intake would be for.. but im learning myself :)

ok...yeah well thing is its not a stock turbo lol...i gota find out if its just a baby upgrade or not...the tubular manifold or it is pretty nice lemme see if I have a pic...

oh well i was basing everything on it being the gt2554r, a different turbo would change all of that lol... whats done to the car?

2003 Protege

Exedy Stage 1 clutch

Turbo Timer

SplitSec Ps1c-0001

AEM wideband

AEM boost guage

Greddy BOV

Racing Beat turbo back

Electric Cutout (for open Down pipe from a switch) welded in to the turbo back

drilled/slotted rotors

some cross bar suspension setup in the rear

tublar jet coated manifold

some upgraded turbo I got to take a good look when I get the chance on sunday on my day off (on 7 psi)

tokico shocks

alpine headunit

some homemade spray kit that sprays water onto the intercooler(which I believe is a stock one btw its so damn small lol its not a big front mount )

some hard pipes

injen intake

serious alarm which is no joke lol...i kicked the tire and it went off lol

well that is interesting lol. i have never seen anything like that. looks like a nice msp, though. (2thumbs)

no idea what thats about...i know it has the electronic boost controller but idk if that is just off electronics or needs other things to make it work...idk...i dont do imports...but ive owned a few : )

yea idk i talked to the girl and she said it was only for sale at the dealer not on ebay ?? idk it was near miami...that manifold I will be wrapping hopefully I have left over wrap from my car

WHAT!!!! You will not be able to wrap a MAM manifold.I will not let you! Sell it to me now before you do that!!!! lol but seriously you cant wrap a piece of art man.
