Bounced off rev limit, AGAIN!

Well, how about buying a "race" car and take it to the track. Drive your MSP like a sane person and quit street racing.

Sorry, but I have three friends, who in the last six months, have wrecked while dragging on the streets. One was seriously injured. This ain't no video game.

amen to that. street racing is lame. many communities have realized this is a problem and are having 1/8th mile competitions in parking lots on fridays, with the cops around. forget where i read it though.

the only one i have is in our ITA ie road race car.

anybody in michigan need a fix check out www.gingermanraceway.com

anyways back to over reving

Yeah, I know..."if the conditions are right", yada, yada, yada. I prefer M.A.I.T. (men against idiot teenagers). No, I don't race my MSP on the street...ever. First off, it just doesn't do anything for me. Maybe I'm getting too old. Secondly, I don't want to risk a ticket. (currently, I pay around $100 a month in insurance for the MSP and an '04 Escalade). Thirdly, I don't want to wrap my (or anyone elses) car around a light pole.

I'm sorry if I sound like someone's grandma, it just really pisses me off.
As far as the rev-bouncing goes, I would turn off the radio and roll down the window. Make a few hard runs by yourself and memorize the pitch of the engine when you get to 6k. Then, when you race someone (on a track), you'll know when to shift without looking down.

Cripes all Friday!
Forget it, I just wanted to know the technical aspects of the rev limiter, not get a sermon from some born again hypocrites!J/K . Im 32 years old and still find it fun to put a young punk in his place once in a while. And if you NEVER get on your MSP, youre a liar. Buy a 1982 Granada. Oh wait, those would probably beat an MSP,lol. I consider myself tame now days compared to the way I was when I was 20 , drunk , and on a GSXR 1100 w/a 1255cc wiseco kit running 10.6 at Norwalk Raceway. (crazy)

If youd read prev posts, youdve seen I drove a rotary for a long time.
8k rpms wasnt a prob, sorry Im still adjusting.

yeah...you have to buy a rev hook up kit to tap it into the stock tach...otherwise if you have an aftermarket tach like i did, it was really easy to hook up as long as you knew which wires were what.

same thing i did........ mine is adjustible so since my car is picky i set it to what it wants for that day........ 48 degrees and 90% humidy and i can run full open..... so my car is tempermenta so i like to adjust my tach so i dont hit fuel cut at 12 psi........

off topic as many others have done .... go to the track and have fun, i do but street racing with nobody around is fun also........ to each his own....... let me see you find the top speed of the protege on the track... it happens on the freeway..... so run what you want and i will do what i want and a 100 dollars ticket is always beat by knowing the cops........

back on topic........
get the shift light .......once it blinds you .......shift.........
and listen to your system while doing it.............

i'm done now

get an rsx, hehe just kidding, I know what you mean I used to hit my rev limiter in my speed, cause I had the steering wheel to low and couldn't see it. I thought about switching the speedo and the tach, but wasn't sure what kind of work was involved with doing that. I could always see the speedo fine with the steering wheel down but not the tach, so switch em up if it's possible.

Thanks guys,
I like the ultra slim shift light at Summit, but the link keeps pointing to a fat black one when I try to paste it. Bad part is it says you need the rpm module for another $60. I may go that route. Joka1, cops must love seeing you drive by with your window down lol.
Thanks again guys,
Shane
