Hey guys,
New guy here. I found a deal on a cheap winter beater, a 1988 323 GTX.
Car has been parked for 2 years but starts and moves. The last owner is my mechanic, car has seen thousands upon thousands invested in it, it is in great mechanical shape but electrical stuff is pretty weak.
This is some of the useless wiring I've started stripping from the car. There are unprotected twisted wires everywhere, old dried up tape, so many blade connectors everywhere, wires that go nowhere, switches, splices, broken grounds... I already fixed the slow battery drain, seems the power drain comes from the interior lighting fuse. I'll check all the bulbs next weekend, if I'm right there is one bulb per door, one on the Hb and one on the ceiling. Any more I don't know of?
Also, the transfer pump doesn't seem to be working and there is a wire going from the back/right coil connector to one of the fuel pumps. Pretty sure this is a big No-no and will also diagnose this.
Anyone knows the correct type of pump to order and is the pump managed?
Also, there is 2 metal boxes full of wires on each side of the car. One is in front of the helper side shock tower, its mostly rotten and if I knew what it was, I'd have better chances of replacing it. It's too rotten to open, I'm scared it'll fall to dust if I touch it...
The second box is between the driver side headlight and coolant tank. I still did not figure out what they are, yet.
Anyways,I'll swing by from time to time to ask questions and answer yours, if you have any.
Carl
