Bought my new 2010 RX8 R3!

Hey guys,

long time since I log on here!

I just traded in my 2006 Titanium gray MazdaSpeed 6 GT with 67K miles for an all new 2010 Red RX8 R3!!!

Absolutely love this car! sounds great....the only dislike, is that it drinks down gas like a mofo!

besides introducing myself, i also wanted a few tips to keep my R3 in good conditions and with a good EPA! lol well, its a sports car so what did I expect? i guess i was spoiled by the MS6 turbo power yet good epa style.

So im new with the rotary engine and I hear all this problems that have me a little worried.

Also, when launching the car from a stop...at what RPM do you dump the clutch?(uhm)

when you daily drive, whats the best rpms to shift at...I go with the feel and I do it usually around 4.5K rpms.

Dumping clutch 7500 will throw it side ways at a luanch
and daily drive 10k shift

yes i drive it a lil hard,

honestly dropping the clutch, more on you and how you can handle the car, and daily driving lissen to the motor you will know when to shift if your just crussing around

Congrats dude!

I dont know much about the rx8 either but do know that they drink gas lol.i have heard though that its good for it to get into the high rpms sometimes.there are a couple of RX8 gurus on this forum that can help you out though.

redline a day keeps the rotary doctor away. Dont be afraid to occasionally bring it to the buzzer, it keeps the carbon out of the engine and carbon is the death of any rotary.

Keep an eye on the oil...it will burn some (it has to) i know you can go pretty much between oil changes and only eat up a qt but still i would be checking it every couple fill ups...its cheap insurance and a good habit with any car anyway.
