We just bought a used 2008 GT for my wife.
I wanted to get some advise....

We got the Certified pre-owned from the Mazda dealer in Canada
Car has 94K (58K Miles)
because it is certified it came with
7/140,000 KM Warranty
30 exchange policy
160 points inspection certified
1 year oil change

-Navigation
-BSM
-New Goodyear Tires
-Cherry Black
-Tan leather
-DVD player with two wireless headsets

- I noticed the remote isn't working properly (does it have a battery that needs to be replaced?) and pretty worn out - I asked dealer to get me a new he said he will get me one but I have to program it myself?
- wireless headsets are pretty worn out - any place to order them online?
- remote for the DVD isn't working - does it need to change the battery?

overall I like the condition of the car , engine and transmission seems very smooth - any way to find out if infamous differential/transfer issues in the past or should I be monitoring it closely as I still have about 46K km until the warranty ends.

Thanks
Ash

so I changed the batteries in the dvd remote and smart key they work. But if I get another smart key is it easier to program myself?

If you have two working smartkeys, you can program the 3rd yourself.
Procedures can be found on this forum (check under How-To subforum).
Welcome.
I got a 2008 GT also.
AWD? Should be since you are in Canada, but I could be wrong.

Many places to get parts and accessories, but I am not sure they ship to Canada.
Check mazdaparts.org (a Mazda dealer in US).

In that case, ask your dealer for the 2nd one (ask them to pay for it).
Because you only got one, you need dealer to program it.
This would cost you about $300-400 USD including the new keycard.

However, if you should lose the only one you have, it will cost you near $1000 (at least $800)
to replace the ECU also. So, make sure you get a 2nd one. Getting a 3rd one or not, it is your choice.

if I get the 2nd key from the dealer...will I be able to program it myself? or it has to be done by the dealer?

It has to be done by dealer, any dealer with the Mazda computer.
If you have TWO working keycards, you can program the 3rd or 4th, and so on (up to 8).

P.S. this is to prevent keycard duplication through temp access (such as Valet service).
