Both AC and HEAT noticeably weaker then before.

2007 Mazda CX-7
Hello,

When I first bought my 2007 CX7 the AC worked so well I had to turn it down most times, now it can barely keep up.

The AC seems to work OK intermittently....say 1-2 minutes at a time and then not very good...better with the windows down at highway speed at 35c/95f.
The fan is always working....but seems not as powerful as I recall. It is always blowing....but maybe at 1/2 the power I remember (in Canada only need AC 3 months a year....so some big gaps in use may lead to less then accurate info) but it is always blowing cold....just not very powerful or very cold.
I have read about the fan relay, and will look at grabbing a new one, the other suspect is the compressor motor...which I am not sure if it fits these symptoms.

I did by a kit to refill the AC last year....but the pressures all seemed fine and topping it up had no effect.

Possibly related or unrelated is the fact that the heater seems to suffer the same lack of power....still works but in the winter on a very cold day can barely keep up on the defrost....had no troubles like this when I first bought it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Same here.. I have a 2010 cx7 and the A/C system is weak.. considering getting rid of it since we transport our child around in it

If the fan is blowing, but not much air is coming out, it is possible that the evaporator is filled with crap (leaves and pine needles and such). This might not pertain to the CX7's but I would have to clean my Tahoe out about yearly. This would possibly explain the poor fan performance.

As far as the A/C temp goes, overfilling it is just as bad as being under filled. "Topping it off" can do a lot of harm to the compressor, the best thing to do it to take it to a professional shop, have them evac the system, and refill to the exact amount required. The $100 that this costs is much better then a $400 compressor!

thanks for the evaporator tip....will look into it

chilledboost....originally our AC was pretty powerful, been going downhill for the last couple years
