So...Borla is out with a cat back for the 2.3 Mazda 3... Part Number:140121
Almost all the way down this page Borla cat back
Question is...For the price and the product, which I understand Borla is a very good product, how much HP could I expect off of this system.... any guesses? I already have the Injen CAI, just want to keep adding good quality and best bang for the $$$ I can get.
Thanks in advance.

It is a bit pricy but if you look at the rest of the list they r all, pretty much, in the $900 range so...and it's a good product....someone told me also that it sounds really good. (The cat back it self)

yeah neon catback are pricy too but yeah borla is real name brand and reputable :) only thing I have to say about going for cheapest catback is sound will over rule gains. If it sounds like crap you will hate to drive the car.

You can get it for $496.95 at www.ptuning.com
It is only a 2.25" exhaust so I would say there are better exhaust that will make more power. I'd get a 2.5" exhaust for the most gains if you are just going to mildly mod. But if you just want sound this might be the one for you.

I ordered the Magnaflow cat-back for the MZ3 from ptuning last week, got it installed Thurs. and it's awesome. I considered going w/Borla but when I heard they'd probably be more about sound than any significant gains I stayed w/Magnaflow. The sound is awesome, really throaty-no rice at all. I'd suggest getting Magnaflow's system: it's cheaper too I think.

Jake,
Is there any way to get a sound clip or video of your Mz3 with the exhaust? I'd like to see what it looks like on the vehicle and what it sounds like. Those two are actually the ones I'm looking at (Borla, and Magnaflow) and to tell u the truth I'm 50/50 so far and need some deciding factor. It's pretty tough, specially since I want to take in consideration the fact that I will be getting the turbo kit fom MAM as soon as I can. Want the stuff I get now to work nicely with future mods. (pullup)
Everyone, Thanks for your imput!
Rick

I'm working on getting some pics up on another thread. As for video & sound, I'll see what I can do. I can tell you that it's a really throaty, deep tone that gets a little higher pitched past appx. 4500 rpms. Nothing like a fart can though. It sounds really good. I took my bud that has an Golf R32 for a ride tonight so he could hear it and he said it sounded like a completely different car.

yeah 2.3 doesn't sound ricy...My car sounded like a loud *V6 with intake and exhaust. You can't go too wrong with MF but yeah sound clips of borla will better sell especially at those prices.

*V6 as in any ole V6 not the mazda 6 V6...

Hey guys....? What are the gains diffrence comparing the Magnaflow and Borla exhaust? Also, Which one is quiter?
Do any of yous who own the exhaust system feel a big diffrence compared to stock? If you do feel a diffrence, then where in the power band is it felt (during take off from the stop)? Thanks in advance.....

Does the Magnaflow fit on the 3i 2.0? It doesn't specify on ptuning.com. Also, any idea on the CIA for the auto tranny? I was told itd fit on the 3i as well as the 3s.

Sound Clip For Borla

Xenon (and anyone else interested) Go to Borla.com, find the application for the mazda3 and right by the price window to the far left you'll see sound clips 1 & 2. Sounds pretty good. I'm in between the 2 myself. I'd sure appreciate some real numbers though, cant seem to find them anywhere.

Also, FYI ptuning.com offers a package deal Injen intake & Borla exhaust for about $750-both in stock. I'm looking at going w/ AEM intake, the only dyno proven #'s I've seen. Ptuning said they'd give me the package w/ the AEM intake vs. Injen!

Anyone else have some feedback..? Borla vs. Magnaflow? Any numbers on either of these???

Also, I here alot of people mentioning some serious mods, where are they all??????

Thanks! That sounds nice.... As for the intake...let me tell you that I got the Injen intake and it's awesome, plus it sits a bit higher than the AEM which, if u live in a place like FL or Puerto Rico where it rains almost every freaking day, it just gives me a little more peace of mind knowing that water is less likely to get into the intake. (Although it shouldn't on either one) I haven't heard the sound on the AEM but I can tell you that the sound of the Injen at WOT ROCKS! (headbang)

My bad xenon, I was reff. to Magnaflow's sound clips....if you follow the same directions I previously gave, but go to magnaflow.com (instead of borla) you'll see it, been doing so much back& forth I confused the 2.

PS-Everyone seems to have their own opinion, and all are greatly appreciated-but i guess it all comes down to the same shyt..+'s & -'s on everythin gso you have to decide for yourself...I'm going w/ Borla Exhaust & AEM CAI
