Boost tube install help?

Wow, help me out here please. I decided to install my SU boost tubes today. I decided to start on the "hot side" one at the back of the engine bay. It wasn't too bad; it just took some time and finagling.

But then there's the bigger, cold-side one up front. This is the problematic one. The clamp screw on the bottom is rotated so far back around the stock tube, that I can't even get down there with my ratchet, even using the nuckle and/or the extension. (The other bolt up high should be manageable.) But how were you guys able to get at that bastard? From underneath? Did you take off the bumper or something?

Use a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 3" extension and shallow socket then come in from the front, between the radiator/fan and reach around the boost tube. It's easier if you feel around, get the socket and extension on there, then attach the ratchet. Really not that hard.

Thats what I did and didnt have a problem..

Would you recommend doing this from above or below the car?

Remember that once you have it off, you can position the new clamp where ever you want. I used T-Clamps and put the T part of it on top, with the nut facing towards the front of the car.

Ah, I'll try going around to the right then. I was trying to stick my arm straight down, basically. And you can be sure I'll definitely be rotating the new clamp into a much better location.

I ended up jacking up the front of the car to get at the screw from underneath. Jacking it up also helped when it came to putting on the cold side tube. I wrote a how-to for installing boost tubes on another MS3 forum. (Hint: dot org)
